Even if there were, with a chassis designed for batteries and motor, it wouldn't be better than an MX5, it would, most likely, be absolutely terrible!

Where is started. Another "sports car" that's so massive and numb it needs over 300bhp to be remotely exciting. You do see them occasionally.

The products people buy reflect how they feel, and I don't think our society is in a place where people have the self assured confidence to want a roadster or convertible and open themselves up to the world, it's all mobile pill boxes with uber aggressive styling and dark dark dark interiors to give people a mobile "safe space" in an unhappy and paranoid time.
