Now they win prizes for Flat-Roofed Pub Regular’s Car Of The Year. Which seems to happen to most Jaguars at some point.
That made me laugh!

Not a great shed, it is broken and not an easy fix

But it also threw a DPF stfit about once every 2 months, necessitating a drive from one end of the M9 to the other every time as you needed to keep it above 50 for 20 mins to regen. Yes, not a major issue, and yes, it was probably because I used it as a daily for short distances, but a car that you can only drive under certain conditions is a bit rubbish. I've stuck to big petrols since purely because of that.
This has always put me off big diesels, my average drive is under 10 miles and can't be doing with dpf woes.

Would drive an old non dpf 5 cylinder merc though.

Can we add a new rule to SOTW that they can't be being sold with known MOT fail defects? This is bound to have some expensive problem or our trader here would have fixed it.
Agreed, far too many sheds appearing as px to clear, no warranty, runs but might not get you home, loads of warning lights that are an easy fix...blah blah. These do not represent cheap and affordable motoring...they are cheap for a reason and very likely to cost you a packet to put right.

Aye, I'd actually budgeted for having to replace the DPF given the age, but both Jag and my local Indy effectively said "don't waste your time, it'll just go again, you need to drive it differently"

So I chopped it in for the XFR in the end because there's absolutely no high-cost borkage jeopardy with a 500+ bhp supercharged V8, right? rofl

Read the relevant paragraph again. This time with both eyes open.

I can vouch for the 3.0 diesel reaching 60 in 5.8 seconds, in 'S' guise. This shed is a petrol.
This one does it in 7.9secs.
The only way a 234bhp diesel example is getting to 60 in anything starting with a 5 is if you pushed it off a cliff…. probably a good idea for this one.

Or maybe the writer meant km/h? scratchchin

One for the 70 year old golfers I think

Why is the climate control off in the pictures in the ad? Do the rotating vents even work?

Is it just me ( fellow posters usually respond with a resounding “yes”) or are these beginning to look a bit old?
An old looking motor for an old looking bloke.

These grace the car parks of nurseries nationwide, quietly sitting there whilst the beige wearing owners browse the rhodendendrons and settling for a slice of lemon drizzle with an earl grey.

£700 tax ? No wonder these are being offered so cheap. My next door neighbour had the V8 supercharged version when they first came out. Sounded superb on starting up.
If you're going to get screwed on tax, you may as well have the V8 to be honest. It's not like anyone interested in fuel economy will be buying the V6 petrol anyway.

A bit like old XJs, this needs two decades in the wilderness of Unwanted Old Jags before they become desirable again.

Rather than shed, this overlaps with brave pill.

We’re gonna need a bigger budget.

I’m 51 and still consider myself too young to drive a Jaguar so it’s a no from me.
I’m also 51 and getting a Jaguar in a few weeks time.
Enjoy! It’d be boring if we were all the same…
Drove an XKR in my early 30’s a cars image is what you make it!

Great car. Ferried my family around in a XF diesel S for around a decade, 230k miles before ULEZ and a leaking exhaust manifold forced a change to a GR Yaris.

Nice cars but not that one.

Not so much a "brave pill" as an enema for your bank account

My neighbour had one of these, it spent months off the road awaiting a new pipe that lives in the V. Shortly after that was fixed it was crashed into while parked and written off citing parts supply issues.

One best avoided as an only car imho.

Yep: from Golf and Country Club to Flat Roofed Pub, from Leafy Lane to down the drain. They have never fully thrown off the Arthur Daly image….’lotta car for the money, mate.’
