I really like it but id buy the Landcruiser 70 series V8 that the Japanese market got over this.
Japan doesnt get a 70 series V8. They only get a V6 petrol.
Australian market has the option of the old non common rail 4.5 V8 diesel or the newer 2.8 D used in this which actually has more power and torque.

Needs a decent (not a 4-pot) petrol engine. Harry M mentioned emissions as the reason why not during his desert review. I presume it’s more a case of Toyota not wanting to spend the money for a limited return rather than being unable.

Shame. I’d be sorely tempted to move out of my L322 otherwise.
That was the 300 Series wasn't it? Although I guess the point stands.

If the graphic on the previous page is correct and the blue is limited to First Editions only then this is going to be a rare beast indeed.

Guaranteed class leading residuals.

despite the fact the Toyota will be by far the better ownership prospect
Why? Everyone I know I with a Defender loves it, and they are clearly better to drive and nicer to be in.
Because for me ownership includes out of warranty.

I'd much, much rather be at the behest of a Toyota dealer than a LR one.

Sub 50k like rumoured would have bought one.

No chance at 70+.

Would take a defender instead

I like the one with the 3 lights in the cluster?

The round light looks a bit out of place…

Blue is nice - but I don’t think you can get blue with the 3 small lights…?

Exactly. Too many stories of utterly woeful LR reliability.

Fine if you want to spend £70k on Russian roulette but I am not into such games so LC every day of the week.

Standard model in the US costs $63,345 (£50,724).

And the Yanks get the i-FORCE Max (iFM) engine - petrol 2.4-litre turbo hybrid - which has 326hp and 465lb-ft, and similar(ish) / better MPG compared to the 200bhp diesel.

Being a petrol hybrid, iFM would comply for longer with ULEZ-type regs as they become stricter and more widespread in the UK - the diesel won't.

In essence, the iFM is the power-unit in the Lexus RX500h, which is on sale in Europe and obviously complies with our emission regs.

So, why doesn't Europe get the iFM as an option?

Not a looker to my eye the Defender is definitely has it beat in the there.

Never been a Jap fan tbh the interiors are just too low rent / cheap looking for me but have a few mates that's had/still got Land Cruisers and there not as 'bullet proof' as everyone says, I've had (way) less issues with my LR stuff than them.

Take of that what you will...

I like that and wouldn't consider another brand if a 4x4 was required. It's more expensive than I expected but no doubt worth it for the reliability aspect alone.

About time! However it is still not available to buy and I've already got a 150 series(& 120 before that) but the Dealer still claims to know nothing and you can't order one, unlike other countries. UK seems to be back of the queue again.

I feel those moaning about the engine have missed the point. It's not a vehicle designed to make you feel good about yourself or to enjoy as such.

It's designed to move people and stuff wherever you could possibly need them, with a minimum of fuss, for the next 15+ years. The 2.8d is an effective power unit for this end.

You'd have to really want though for twice the price of a pick-up that does largely the same job mind.

Given modern prices, I’d say this looks good value. Well done Toyota. Moreover I’d definitely take one of these over anything Chinese.
