Much prefer this, maybe in blue like the Fast Lane car.

Got Leepu vibes for me.
Never mind that one, Leepu did an XJS and it's shockingly similar! rofl

TWR ?

Didn't they go bust, stealing everyones money and not paying their employees with Tom Walkingshaw being lambasted by the Judge for underhand dealings.

I remember my friend took an engine with him in lieu of wages, and someone buggered off with a Jet APU !
Glad I'm not the only one with reservations of handing 10k over to TWR, memories are short it appears.

But it isn't really, is it.

Finally, something automotive related that an 80's kid can get excited about. I'm so tired of electric this and hybrid that. I still watch Tom Walkinshaw's 1985 qualifying lap at Bathurst on a weekly basis. A real racer in a real racecar. I do hope this new TWR is produced as promised...

Am not a fan of the original XJS. This is no improvement... Nuke it from orbit... it's the only way to be sure.

This looks to be inspired by the 80s Transformer cartoons in the episode with the robots back on Cybertron.

More chance of that "new" TVR appearing that this TWR thing.

Or maybe they could tie up with Hennessey and really make a promise that can't be kept. biglaugh

I personally like it. It's like a British hot rod, brutal.

I'm more interested in whats under the skin. If its a body kit and and engine it's a hard pass. I was it to work on track, not that I'm a potential buyer ha

I like the original XJS enough to own one.
I can't decide if I like this or not. Looks great from the rear 3/4 view, but the bonnet bulge/bumper-splitter is a bit much.

Lots of talk of body styling and 600bhp but nothing about handling as I'm not sure I'd want 600bhp in an old Jag if I wanted to go around a corner
To be fair the DB7 GT wasn't a million miles off that sort of power hehe

Not what I'd be hoping for from a TWR Jag. Much prefer the more subtle, brawnier look. This isn't for me but we're all different however, for that price . . . ?

If i had £250k or so to chuck on a new car genuinely can't comprehend why it would be spent on a faster (thus even less usable) evolution of whatever McLaren or Ferrari are putting out .... stuff like this is just so so much more interesting.

Is it though?

If you had the development budget to drop on something that well-engineered, would the common-sense view not be to design something new, rather than re-hash what was always a divisive design? It always feels a bit "Britain's Got Talent" to me: you have talent, so why not use it to write your own material rather than sing somebody else's song?

That said, you'll probably never see another one (for a variety of reasons) and that's all some people need.
One might argue that 'the common-sense view' would be to not drop £250k+ on a car hehe

I would like to think anyone seriously considering a big investment in a restomod would first take steps to be comfortable it was more than just a re-hash. See a Singer up close for example and the price stops looking so crazy …

Seeing what I’ve seen of this project: this is definitely not a crazy price.

If this were TWR announcing they had a ground up car I think it would cost a lost more, and not sell either.

The XJS is definitely divisive, agree there. I think maybe less decisive in its crazy wide body Lister-like form.

Men of a certain age ( let’s be honest also the people most likely to have the money ) are more likely than not to love this I think.

Whether it has enough demand for 88 cars .. f**k knows. Good luck to them tho … why this forum spends so so much energy moaning about ever new car and then *also* commits same energy into things bold and interesting… beyond me.

Not a cohesive design at all, the front looks like it’s had a shock.

I want to like it, but the more I look at the pictures the more I wonder how they managed to get it so wrong.

Since the original was never a looker, this TWR version is handicapped in that department too. Still, it will be interesting to see one in broad daylight.
I think it would be preferable to see it on a very dark night, no street lights and no moonlight yikes
