That "welding" is unreal. That's not just rushed thats scary. I'm surprised a painter didn't grind that down or something. This is being sold as a track day car as well where weld quality could mean life or death.

How could they lete that happen? I know for sure someone, somewhere will have thought "its bad - we really need to sort that out" but just carried on anyway.

I hope that they are going to get some professional welders in for production.

Not even worth 5k with shite like that holding it together!

Shame as I really like the concept / look.

Indeed- just goes to show you need more than a good body & motor to make an appealing car. Build quality has got to be No.1- doesn't matter how sexy it looks/sounds/goes if it falls apart at first sign of stress. in the case of the first weld pictured i don't think it would matter how much a painter grinds THAT sucker down it's still gonna be suspect.eek

That's shocking welding.

Crikey thats as bad as my welding! looks like mig to me, but saying that this is a pre-production car (I hope) and once you have the set up arranged it's not difficult employing some welders who can do a good job. I'd like to this TIG welded.

Lovely looking concept though, just shows how easy it is to develop a car in short time with a relatively small budget. I like it lots...

Like the look of it a lot!
But the look of the backend is a bit to retro and looks a bit cheap in comparison to let's say a brock's coupe www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=7&article_id=1681
Th backend should be higher up and maybe it should have smaller lights also.

Have top go with the general consensus that it's a very nice looking car and more than a little TVR M-series like from a few angles!

Best of luck to them. Would be quite happy to see them move into Blackpool in place of a foreign firm run by the mafia

The guys responsible really should have a chance to explain those welds. As it stands, regardless of the price or how cool the car looks, if those photos are indicative of build quality then NOBODY should even consider one.

This could kill the project dead in the water, it's shockingly bad publicity.

Not sure if Jon the poster has an axe to grind but someone close to the company ought to have right of reply - but TBH even if it was a hasty lash-up for the show, no competent craftsman with any pride in his work would EVER have workmanship like that on show.

I know that I'm borderline obsessive-compulsive when it comes to attention to detail, but attention to detail MATTERS. Even if the car is sold as a kit, unless the kit maker has to fabricate the chassis from component parts, there's little the kit builder can do unless he/she re-welds the offending areas.

Bunch of arse, eh?

Hi, Jon here, I have absolutely no axe too grind at all, the pics where taken at a very prominent show last year and discussed at length on another kit forum, when I saw the string on here just thought I would share them.

The main points out of the discussion where, nice car but would you ever turn up and exhibit a car with welds on it like that, quick mock up maybe too get it too a show on time (the floor was held in with cable ties) I can fully understand, but would you leave welds like that on the car for all too see, doesn't inspire confidence.

I am amazed those welds we not finished off nice and smooth before painting, maybe they were rushing to get it finished for the autosport show.

In the light of this thread I made a point of examining the welding on the Zolfe at the Autosport show, and on the latest chassis it's fine. It's still in the development stage though and they'll be making a few mods to the roll cage to give more headroom on the production versions.

Looks like the company is determined to do things right and despite having offers of cash deposits aren't taking any money until they're ready to go into production.

having followed this with interest as it is styled around one of my altime fav cars the opel gt
it is from what i heard about to go into production , just wish i could afford one
the pre production car is now a far better build car as it is no longer a display model .
Can not wait to see one on the road
