What's the attraction? Is it the tonka looks or do they not drive like they look?
For me; it's the ability to signwrite them without it looking completely out of place, e.g. on a car (I HATE signwritten cars with a passion). I also like the fact I can throw in everything and anything, it'll be great when we go to France, it'll be great when we go camping & hopefully, it'll be great at creating awareness for my business and ultimately a few leads. I also happen to quite like the rugged looks. They're also relatively cheap and tax efficient.

i saw an IT type with an f-150 with his web address written on the back where it should have said the model name. he'd used those letters you can get at halfrauds or similar that look like they're OE chromette letters. now if that were on a vectra estate it'd be rubbish but on a pick-up it does look 'witty'!
I think the Navara is the nicer pickup with a decent engine and a design which doesn't make 20" chrome wheels look a bit small. It' got a much nicer interior and feels less agricultural (doesn't rattle you as much at startup) then the l200. However my dad has had some problems with the demonstrators hes had (sales director for a leasing company specialising in commercials) but these were quite early models and i haven't heard of any recent problems
Had the exact same decision to make. In the end went for the Nissan.
While I prefer the look of the L200, the fuel economy was slighty better and it was more raw and hence fun to drive. But the reasons I went for the Nissan was that the top spec came in a manual (with cruise) but the L200 only had an auto in the top of the range car. It also felt more car like and refined. The bluetooth and gadgets in general were also better IMO.
Also I got a good deal for the Nissan. PM me and will give you the details from my negotiations.
Picking it up on Thursday so hope I made the right choice!

Attention Phil!
I know nothing about the new shape L200 but I can list a few of things the old L200 didnt have:
Performance
Comfort
Fuel economy
A good turning circle
It did:
Look good
fit things in the back
Go through a gearbox inside 12,000miles (replaced under warranty)
And thats about it.
Its a safe bet the Nissan will be better on all counts, though more expensive to maintain.
Its an even safer bet a Hilux will be better than both on all counts, especially performance and comfort, wont need maintaining anyway and looks better. And just is better. So there we go. You should get one. Theyre good.
Plus the SR5 will have a few creature comforts too.
ETA - Forget the Ram or the F150 unless you want to use the side of a fuel tanker trailer for your mobile advertising. Having said that, EVERYONE will look at it. Birds hate it though and would you believe it, being the callous and shallow little man that I am, I actually get self concious when driving an ugly girl around in it cause you cant keep it secret!
ETA again - not that I would ever have an ugly bird in it...DOH!

I have two friends who both own Navara's and from what I've read the Navara is the superior car. One thing though. In the last few weeks my friends Navara has developed some harsh rattly sound from the engine which doesn't sound healthy at all. They still don't know the problem but the car was only about 6-7 weeks old when it started.

As I said on page one ( ), Hilux Vigo (looks cracking).
I did look at the Hilux as well. And while is it clearly a very good vehicle and absolutely bullet proof the interior is just like being in a van. Very plastic and "hard" finish. The Nissan is much more like a high end car interior. For example the Hilux doesn't have dual climate control only AC.
They are very different and it depends on what you are going to use it for. Go for a drive and let us know what you think.
And of course it has have 1 less horse power Mind you the mpg is quite a bit better

Isuzu Rodeo anyone?
Dad totted up between Navara, Hi-lux, Ford Ranger, L200 and this, reckons it was the best compromise of comfort, price, economy, and looking like a forestry worker.
Has a hard life ( towing, filled with gravel, tools, mixers etc, driving round yards/quarries, mega mileage) aswell as being the everyday car is coping admirably.
Certainly look it up, he is quite impressed with it.
