Looks like BMW's brand dilution is having the desired effect!

I'd just go and have a chat with him next time you see him and ask to have a look at his new P&J. If it isn't an M5 then you need to come up with a way to tell him he's a a complete mug.

Strangly enough my neighbour just got a courtesy car. He was all happy and told me it was an M3. I question the 318i badge on the back and the four doors. to which he replies "well its got a m badge on the gearknob, and the wheels, and the steering wheel"

Great bloke, knows all about cars

Sounds like our sales guy at work. He picked up a courtesy car whilst his was in service and came into the office raving how they had leant him an S4. Strange how it had a 2.0 badge on the back. The S Line body kit confuddled him a bit I think.

Doesn't E39 M5 have a Sport button?

Which unleashes the REAL power.

Err I'm fairly certain it has a sport button. I'm not sure what it does. My friend had an E39 and he claimed it unleashed the power. He even tried to persuade me you can hear the engine note change. I was unconvinced but he said I'd know if I drove it which I never did.

Yeah the E39 has the button that sharpens up the throttle response and quickens the steering. Makes no difference to the power output though.

HTH.
