The thunder road car, I think its pre SVA, but theres lots of cobs post SVA with all the period fittings and it's not that much work to swap out the non compliant stuff; lots of people are doing it!! Check out www.cobraclub.com lots of very pretty post SVA cobs there (checkout my gallery, my last two cobs are there, both post SVA and look the part

Mmm, love the matt black side pipes(and riveted hood and scoop).
I was looking at getting/building a Dax or Gardner Douglas years ago, but the SVA had just come in and I was so picky(Ford V8 and swapping everything back) it all went way out of my budget.
I've seen so many Pinto powered ****heaps about recently, it's put me off.

While I admire their work, that Cobra really isn't for me. My one would have a chrome bar, if it had one at all, and the paint job is just phugly. I see that they're doing the whole replica thing and all, but still...

This is one of those nerd projects in my book. Heritage and history over form wouldn't cut it for me.
I guess you either 'get it' or you don't. smile

My dad was telling me only this weekend that he and his mates in the 60's (must be early 60's I guess, according to this) used to gather on M1 motorway foot bridges of an early morning to watch AC testing their cobra's at full chat. Must have been ace!

Handles surprisingly well, you just have to remember you have approaching 400hp in a 1 tonne rear wheel drive car with no mod cons like ABS, traction control or airbags, and then its fine!!
Not in modern Lotus Elan handling territory, but quicker and better built!!!

(3-2-1 incoming LOL)

Nice - so is it based on an older car then, that was already built if pre SVA?

Not much of a fan of replica's but does look very period unlike some of the Hideous things around.

Barley Mo in East Horsley Hosts the Surrey Cobra Club - Top Bloke owns it (TR racer and ex owner of 2 Real FIA Race Cobras (REAL ones only - belowwink).

289FIA - Hmm and it has a 302 in it! (not very FIA?).

nice FIA's!!

To answer your question, my car was SVA'd; they dont all have to look dreadful (in fact most of them being finished now are far far from that)

Nor me. I've been a Cobra fan for ages. I much prefer older cars generally.
