Wonder how the Lotus Carlton would compare with the little known Alpina B10 Bi-turbo
If i remember rightly they are both about the same power and torque. Think the Carlton has slightly more of both.Mind you would love either off them.
Notnormal, your car is beuatiful. Saw one go years ago, my god it was quick, souded good to.

had a ride in one when I was 18. Two things stick in my mind. 1) Awesome brakes 2) Driver telling us about the cost of the brake service!
He'd had an E34 M5, bought the LC and was going back to an E34 3.8 M5. I will own one one day.........
Beautiful

Was looking at an XJR, 500E and LC when I wanted a change of car and THE only thing that put me off the LC was running costs and parts availability.
I still have a hankering for one but not as my everyday car.
Amazing bit of kit and saw one in the services just the other day, gorgeous!
I travel down the South east a lot so all passenger rides appreciated with one in return.
Dave!

Excellent and very accurate write up of how a Lotus Carlton actually feels, and goes.
Having driven some tasty and much more powerful kit in between the time I first drove one 10 years ago, and the day I actually picked my very own LC up last November it stil feels like the fastest thing on the road - and probably is faster than most stuff I come across !
I've done 2,000 miles in it since collecting it 8 weeks ago (its now just clicked over 10,000 miles in total !) and I have loved every one with many more to come.
If, like me you have been hankering after one for longer than you care to remember, go and do it as you'll won't regret it !

had one years ago, and yeah its a beast- full respect they used to give porsches a thrashing, also does anyone remember R&D motorsport had a cavalier with the LC's engine+running gear (about 10 years ago)
I think that was a bit of a myth TBH but i'll happily be proved wrong, there was a Cavalier with LC looks and styling etc owned by a chap called Richard Phelps which was around at that sort of time you mention but it only had a modified C20LET and was FWD.Only LC engine conversions i've seen are in Omega B's and also a Yellow German Calibra built by a company called ARTZ
There was a guy driving around one in the paddock at the Nurburgring last year while I was there (GP track, not the old circuit) he disappeared for 30 minutes and the car came back on a trailer Not damaged, but obviously not working in a 'it's fooked' kind of way.
I have a friend who had one of the original Carlton Gsi 3.0's that had been 'breathed on' before delivery, which was uber quick, but he said he'd been passed by a LC while travelling at a fairly high velocity one day and realised that it wasn't even in the same league, especially acceleration wise.

Seeing images of ones with cracks appearing in the shells, rot under the bodykit after Lotus drilled all those holes, parts for the engines etc etc, for regular hard use it isn't viable.
Harvey Gibbs had a few tuned ones and when asking him a few questions about them he basically said, if you are unsure if you can afford it then don't bother test driving it as you WILL be driving it home haha

At the time, all we had in the states was the Taurus SHO and Maxima. The real killer was the Dodge Spirit RT with 220hp. All FWD of course.
I was turned onto the LC by a pal who'd moved here from Britain in the '80s. We lusted over that car in mags he had sent from back home. 377hp was and still is a hammer.
I finally had a chance to see one while in Germany in '99. My folks wondered if I'd lost it taking pics of a black sedan. I had to explain...
