Ford Still Waiting To Say Tata To Jag

Tata denies technology sharing with Fiat

Tata Motors has reportedly denied it is in discussions with Fiat on sharing Jaguar and Land Rover technologies.

The Indian firm was responding to newspaper articles suggesting a tie-in with Fiat.

Tata has said it hopes to clinch a deal to buy the two luxury British brands from Ford soon, in the long-running saga.

‘Tata Motors is pleased by the progress in the discussions with Ford to date and hopes both the parties can reach an agreement in the forthcoming weeks,’ company spokesman Debasis Ray said in a statement.

Earlier reports suggested offers for the two brands ranged from 1.5 to 2.0billion dollars.

Wish they'd just hurry up & sell. I'm genuinely interested to see what direction Tata would push Jaguar in.

Yes, but I have been pondering this....

Is there any chance that Ford have been playing a waiting game?

Jaguar is on the cusp of profit, with the XF (possibly) about to help them turn it around?

If it goes down well, is it possible that Ford will let the deal fall through?

I bloody hope Ford don't keep em. Jag have some good plans going forward, if Ford keep them they'll just end up making another messed up decision that was the X-type. Come on Ford, let them go, Let Jag just get on with it and let Tata fund it.

TATA are no business gods, they are just very good, but certainly much better than the management when Jag was independent. Seems the only companies that run well internationally out of the UK are banks, brokers, and other operations, where you sell nothing for a lot of money.....
