they rely on what they can get at the moment
That does seem to be the case

and retain the thick, quality paper used,
I thought the paper felt cheap and nasty!! wobble

Good luck to them though - as a car enthusiast, I wish any new car-related venture well.

I got the first issue to test read, it was ok, I got the second to see if there was any improvement, there wasn't, so I'll probably not be getting a third unless it improves.

Not a patch on EVO at the moment IMO.

But at least they're trying.....

IMO it is going to take more then two issues to establish itself and it is not directly in competition with just evo either.

I will wait for a fair few more issues before starting to knock it down....

Well, PH works

After my complaining about no response, I got a response about the Australian availability

On ya Performance Car Mag. Might have a look once it gets out here.

I like what I've seen of it so far. Evo is great as an aspirational magazine and I will always want to read it for the quality of the writing and photography, but something with a bias towards more affordable machinery sounds like a good idea too.

I thought 2ns issue was better than the first. Good content, and more interesting small bits in the news than EVO.

As an amateur myself I thought it was rather cliche'd - too much oversteer - with not enough creativity. But each to their own...
Possibly. . . but who's at fault - the photographer or the art guy choosing the photos?

yes Spot-on. A creative snapper can be undone by a cliche'd art dir.

Being honest, I've seen a lot of better 'in action' photography from some of the forum users here...Trackdemon's recent NSX pics stick out in my mind straight off. And most of the people on here don't do it as a day-job...but we have the advantage that we self-censor what we post up!

I've got to agree with Joe Snow - preferred 2nd Issue....but then I remember the original Performance Car took about a year to "come good" for my tastes

I really wanted to like Performance Car, but I found issue 2 really boring. I'd read it all in 5 minutes. The writing's just not up to scratch and there's not enough in it that I either don't already know or is compelling enough to hold my attention. Sorry PC, Evo's sub is more than safe and I don't think I'll be buying issue 3.

Sadly that's exactly the way I'm starting to feel about PPC

Issue 3 is out. Had a quick flick through it, and it seems to be pretty full on topics tbh, at first glances it looks like the best so far imo

I'm not all that impressed with this issue, the integra retrospective was nothing new, or anywhere near as good as Evo's writing. And if the magazine is about affordable performance cars then why spend £5k on 20" wheels just to make a £50k BMW stand out?
A lot of mags get things like alloys sent to them for free from different companies in exchange for coloum inches.

I missed issue 1 but after buying both issue 2 and 3 not only have I just taken out a sub but I just had to get issue 1 on back order! I love the fact that they predominantly feature cars I can actually afford... Good effort

Hmm, I've bought all three issues so far, but found the 3rd a little strange. Do we really need three seperate articles on the Merc SL? Do we really need yet another article on the New Impreza? I'm sure all three issues so far have featured it.
