I agree with both you and DJ, Ben.

It is a great bit of kit, no doubt. But, for some reason, and it may well be unfair, I always see them as being owned by someone who looks a bit like RAF DUG, being polished outside a semi on a Sunday morning and taken to shows to meet the other factory worker/ bus driver owners.

I know how wrong that is, but it's the first thing that springs to mind. And it shouldn't detract from an iconic machine like that, but it does. Almost certainly my loss.

Put it this way. I can imagine Der having an E30 M3 in the garage as a toy. But a Cossie? Nah.
I make you absolutely right young sir, the image really is generally not a great one and I have to agree totally with you. I always felt like a bit of yoof or 'fug when I was behind the wheel which was a real shame as it was/is an absolutely stunning car.

I had mostly positive comments, mostly from middle aged guys recounting their days watching the good ol' days of BTCC in the late 80's and eraly 90's.

An E30 does always seem to come across as the connoisseurs (sp?) choice which in my eyes is a real shame as my 3dr Cosworth was one of the greatest cars I have owned.
Yeah, that generally is the case. There's a lot of Cossies driven by blokes with shaved heads, no neck and Elizabeth Duke sovereign rings. Despite the rarity and thus elevated values, the RS500 is not immune. Still, you're money's safer in a good Cossie than just about anything else at the moment...!

Agree with the E30 M3. Would dearly love either an early 87 spec car or a late 2.5 Sport Evo, perhaps a Cecotto if a nice one was to come up. Built beautifully and will last forever. A genuine daily driver if you so wanted, unlike a 500 which is a bit Forth Road Bridge, if you see what I mean. Two very different types of car though. Delicate and finely honed chassis with a jewel of a motor vs a mass produced chassis with trick engine electronics and utterly brutal turbocharging.

My ideal garage would be: RS500, E30 M3, Twin Plenum Vitesse, M635CSi - Spot the commonality...!

All fantastic and would look perfect parked next to a 'grale, which you seem to have forgotten to mention, chap. I'll assume you meant to but were typing too fast?

My motorsport homage would consist of -

Lotus Cortina
E30 M3
Sierra Cosworth
'89 Integrale 16v
MK2 Escort RS2000
Lotus Sumbeam

cool article! Loved these when I was little! posters on the wall etc etc..

If anyone fancies one of the best and most modded 3 doors out there. Mine is for sale! Looking for around £27k and its cost me double that and alot more!!!

Its been converted to 4wd and made 605.9bhp on the SCS engine dyno on a GT35. It now runs a smaller and far punchier and better GT30 and makes 550bhp+ car comes with either Turbo and plenty of wheels, tyres and slicks, small spares package etc etc (price dependant)

Its obviously track focused but is actually fine to drive on the road and my Girlfriend does as well and said she could not believe how easy it is! Doesn't make the best shopping car though to be honest but you certainly do NOT need to trailor it to a trackday lets put it that way! and you won't find much that will get near it on a sunday afternoon blast!

I will put it up for sale on here with a spec list as soon as I can.

OR just buy Fast Ford. Its on this months cover in your new agents now!

Yep, bottomless money pit of poor design and lacklustre performance vs a Ford. No contest hehe

Joking. I really like classic 911s

I dont think you can compare them really. As much as I would like a 911 I wouldnt turn down a mint cossie.

Anybody wanting a Cosworth really should go & get 1 - it might just save them form the Barryboys types.

As for that Reyland car, v.impressive, as is the Escort version in the other thread although as na Escort owner I'm biased towards the latter.

and your point? I have a 3 door Cosworth and 2 Porsches. Just because you have one doesn't mean you can't appreciate the other!

Do you have to keep them in seperate garages in case the Cossie starts a fight with the other 2?
