I quite like the Nissan too, also the idea of having the Porsches as day to day cars & having a Ford & a Nissan for the w/e. Class.

I owned an original Moonstone Blue 3-door Sierra Cosworth between 1986 and 1989. It was standard and cost around £17,000 as delivered.

...............

If anyone's interested I'll tell the rather different tale of my 1984 Sierra XR4i - now that was really interesting... Ford really did produce some fantastic cars in the '80s!
Nice post - I'd be interested in hearing about the XR4i as that was the path I followed into Cosworth ownership ( mostly for insurance reasons but partly because I wanted to try an XR4i for myself as well after a friend's Dad had one smile )

Escorts FTW.

series 2 RS turbo please smile
what the girly gutless dull one? without the LSD, special ratios etc etc etc?
do behave we're talking fast fords here, not dull fords.
i dont know where ill informed people get this from but it`s not the 1st time ive heard it. all escort rs turbo`s had the lsd! look it up muppet before you try and slate somebody.
from every guide to the things ive ever seen that said get the S1 ECU & gearbox. the S1 ecu tunes better & the S1 box has lsd & different better ratios.
besides the S2 looks crap.

I’m not arguing that the ‘Cossie’ is an iconic car but I, personally wouldn’t buy one even if I had the money. A quick search on PH Classifieds turned up the following, (given that an ’87 3 door is advertised for about £12k) : ’03 RS Focus; ’03 DC5 Integra,; ’03 Scooby; ‘01 Tommi Mak Evo. All of which are just as exciting, if not more so, than a Cossie. All with modern mod cons and more importantly aren’t Sierras! I’m sure there are plenty out there who will disagree but I thought I’ld put things into perspective.

True. £12k will buy you a share and bunch of flights in a supersonic fighter jet or unlimited aerobatics aircraft, both of which make any car (or bike for that matter) feel as exciting as a a wet fart. All horses for courses. Difference between the cars you mention is the Cossie came first. It was a mold breaker. Focus RS is good but it's no Cossie. Evo Mak - great A to B but appalling on track (been there, done it, got the t-shirt and P-Zeros down to canvas), similar case for Scoobies. There's a car to suit everyone and you're quite right to put it in perspective but it's a bit like saying a Countach is st because it's no faster than a modern 5 series beemer. Put in in the context of it's day and it was staggering. Same for the Cossie.
