I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread, I suspect it would be more appropriate here for utter unicorn value http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

they actually aren't quite as rare as you might think! Top barging though.

With 6 registered and 2 SORN, I'd say that, actually, they are rather scarce.

Possibly the same one three times, especially if there's something lurking under the skin which people don't like when they find out about it.

I like the 0-62 in 5.1 seconds.

Not sure it has any other redeeming features, and given the potential for ongoing bills and VED it's not exactly Bargain of the Nanosecond let alone Century....

Fellow bargists,

Would i become a barge owner at heart after purchasing one of these in the future?

The spec list does seem wonderful enough..

PHANTOM METALLIC GREY WITH FULL CREAM LEATHER INTERIOR + FULL BMW SERVICE HISTORY + 1 OWNER FROM NEW + PRO SATELLITE NAVIGATION + BLUETOOTH + FULLY HEATED SEATS + REAR DVD PLAYERS WITH WIRELESS HEADPHONES + SELF CLOSING DOORS + REVERSE CAMERA + PARKING SENSORS + 18 INCH ALLOY WHEELS......
lick
Just oozing with opulence while retaining that BMW ethos.. 2009 with 38,000 miles, one owner, BMW history and most importantly, the rare LCI 4.4 V8 on top of the evn more rare long wheelbase at a reputable dealership does seem particularly tasty too.

Opinions?

Prefer the one at Birchwood. It's got HUD, night vision, dynamic drive, soft close and the rear entertainment.

Unless you have a chauffeur, of what benefit is the LWB version?

More room for any passenger with no negatives (other than perhaps parking)?

I would probably go LWB if there was no cost difference second hand.

As I thought. I'd actively avoid the lwb version. I recall the E38 750i in SWB form was much rarer and thus more highly prized. There's no downside to the smaller version for commuting on your own.

Now that I have 2 kids I would actively seek out the LWB. Having so much leg room that the kids cant reach or kick the front seats would be a real bonus as would rear seat entertainment package with screens and ability to play DVDs etc.

I've had an e38 750i SWB and also an e38 750il, both on 18" Style 32s and with the EDC. There is really no discernible difference in road holding or handling and the LWB is "more car". Clearly if you are the only one using the car 99% of the time the SWB might make more sense.

I'd go SWB too preferably. Just that bit more sensible for parking really. I've simply told my kids not to kick the seats in daddy's car and they don't... wink

I'm with bmthnick1981 on this; I sought out 750i's and Alpina B12's for a few years before deciding to actively seek out the long wheel base Alpina version. The extra rear space and, if you're lucky, toys are perfect for a family, and should you ever have take adult passengers then it makes for a far more comfortable set-up more in fitting withthe size and class of the car.

If it's only ever one person in the car then a 7 Series doesn't actually make much sense at all these days with so many other car choices with similar powerplants and equipment levels in smaller cars..... unless the bonkers turbo-charged V12 is the toy you desire the most.

My E38 is the family car and I seldom take it when I'm on my own.

Parling a lwb is not a problem and the E38 parking sensors are far more reliable than the E39 ones.

Parking an L7 though.... that's over a foot longer than a swb.
