Supercars spotted, some rarities......

Fantastic shots, and you're a 'proper' car spotter - not just textbook exotica but the more mundane looking stuff too that would pass most people by (that 320si for example).
Really interesting stuff.
Indeed! Excellent stuff!Really interesting stuff.
I do have to take you to task on one point though, most of those big astons you have pics of are the nonsupercharged 'Virage' and not the supercharged 'Vantage.' No bonnet nostrils you see...
I know what you mean about the 550i. Whats the point? If you just want a highspec and reasonably rapid 5 series then why not get a 530i or 535d? If you really want to motor then surely the M5 is the only weapon of choice? Or at a push an Alpina alternative. Why bother with a 550i? The depreciation must be monumental! I really dont think the differences in showroom price matter all that much to these kind of buyers.

I have heard stories of the mega rich buying something to run around in on their trips to London and then the car just sitting for the rest of its life in some underground car park
You dont need to be mega rich to do so, plenty of cheaper cars are abandoned. Right now I can think of a Triumph Spitfire, Mk3 Golf, Peugeot 205, Mercedes 420SEL and an Mk1 MR2 all within about a mile radius of here, which appear to be abandoned or at least very neglected. Sometimes people just dont use them for ages or forget they even have them. The boss of a small IT company in our building had a Volvo P1800 coupe he parked in the buildings car park, then left it there one day when it wouldn't start and it sat there slowly deteriorating for a few years until someone offered to buy it for restoration. theboymoon said:

As someone who has not lived in London, is this the kind of stuff you just see strewn around the streets? Edited by dan1981 on Monday 14th July 11:09

i think this is a pretty good pic, got the Ferarri, the lambo opposite, the Bentley on the other corner, two range rovers in shot and what is that one goign round the corner on the left? I can't make it out. In answer to theboymoon, yes, if you choose the right spot. If you could draw a map of the world centred on wealth, where that photo is taken would be pretty near the middle.
Some stunning stuff, random stuff and uber-rare classics in there, great selection! I recognise a few of those including that SZ, it seems to have been there for literally years! I will be in London at the start of August so I'll bring the camera and get a few snaps to add to this thread. Keep adding more if you have more!

That SZ has been photographed and posted here a few times by various people, including by myself over the years. That blue 840Ci is also a familar machine, I think it's the same one I've photographed before and seen around the knightsbridge area a few times, not too many blue ones about.
Absolutely.....and I know of one hotel in the Baker St area, whose clientele are mainly from the Middle East..they have Lambos, Ferraris, Astons, and Porsches (not 911's but GTs) etc. parked in their car park....the owners come over for a few days, use the car and then leave...the rest of the year they are parked without being moved....occasionally the owners get the staff at the hotel to take their cars out...!! Most of them have diplomatic immunity (sons and daughters of embassy officials, i.e. no parking tickets and no speeding penalties..
I might start digging in my back garden, see if I hit a seam..

Cracking pics - you've certainly made a name for yourself here on PH already!!
I love supercar spotting in London, very easy around Knightsbridge...
One thing though - that bloody CF spoiler on the 599 GTB - don't these people realise that Ferrari designed the car with the separated butresses to negate the need for a spoiler?!?! THEY didn't need one, so they didn't put one on!! Who gives Hamann or whoever the right to 'improve' on a car's aerodynamics which cost millions of Euros to develop?
Rant over.
Keep the pics coming!

It's not just in London that people buy cars that never get used. The designer of the Driver series of games lives in Newcastle, and he has a F360 that is covered in dust and has hardly any miles on it.
And the North East has its fair share of rarities flying around, I need to start taking my camera out more lol. Hell we must have a Bentley garage around here for some reason, never thought we'd have that many high rollers in the area!

He's not parked, it's LHD
The lack of driver, fact that this is a right hand drive country, fact there are people walking in front of the car, and obvious parking bays with cars in directly behind it all suggest that whilst that 599 is LHD - he is parked.Or was your comment tongue in cheek?
If you live in/around Plymouth you need to pay a visit to Tavistock Road at 4.45 or thereabouts Mon-Fri to catch a glimpse of an Ultima GT-R in red (the same car that recently (unofficially) smashed the Top Gear track record).
I've seen the car three times coming into Plymouth by the Woolwell roundabout, on two occassions there was heavy traffic so it just rumbled by me slowly, but the first time the guy was able to put his foot down a bit and I got a blast of the 720bhp supercharged Chevvy V8 - Incredible!
It looks amazing in the flesh, very low slung with a bubble glass windscreen.
