Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads?

I want to have a back wall with a bench and tool storage and want to be able to work on both sides of the car at once. Would 6x4 metres be ample for what I want?
Does anyone have a picture of their car in a garage around that size?
4 x 6m sounds about right to me, I went for 4 x 5.5m, but the builder made it 4 x 5m, as you can see there is plenty of width (now taken up with shelves etc):Does anyone have a picture of their car in a garage around that size?

Dear god, do people on PH still think comments like that are funny?
Yes, some people on PH do still try and pull the leg of other people on PH. Maybe raise a smile, maybe get a witty reply. Who knows.
Either way, no harm done. Apart from to you, seemingly.
But no one really cares about you.

Pulling the leg of someone is fine if you're original. Trotting out the same old "hairdresser"/"wife's car" type jokes isn't original and is tiresome. Like the BMW 330i (mapped) joke. It was funny for a while, but its time has passed.
Obviously not overdone that much as you'd remember it was a 335d...Totally different IMO. The "wife's" car joke is a standard quip relating to something owned by a guy being girl. Like the guy who turned up for work today in leggings... st like that can't go unnoticed!
The 335d one was an topical in joke for PH and has run it's course for sure, but two totally different things IMO.

Fortunately these sorts of jokes mean it is funnier when I surprise people after they try keeping up down a B road.

It does have a V6 though.
I drive MX5s too - who cares what others think, I'm the one having more fun.

as the previous owner of half a dozen 'ladies' cars, i have never understood 'girls car' being used as an insult.
If you want women to like your car, get a girly car. If you want men to like your car, get a 'manly' (Grrrrr) car
i like women, thanks very much...
I've had a variety of cars, the one that got a noticeable number of warm looks and smiles from 20 something beauties? If you want women to like your car, get a girly car. If you want men to like your car, get a 'manly' (Grrrrr) car

A 1965 pale green/blue VW beetle. Horrible to drive, no comforts, total woman magnet.
We should start a new thread
BTW Bigger is not better for garages, we all have a limited amount of time and often get most out of a few, well focussed jobs on the one vehicle than scattering one's time amongst a few. Look at the videos of the guys with their 20 gar garages, they are just collectors and few enjoy tinkering: a hobby that you only need one car and enough room around it for.
I'd rather spend a couple of hours fettling the hobby car than the same time dragging a tyre pump around to check 20 cars (potentially 100 tyres) for a morning: sounds way too much like going to work.

ooks like it's for the scissors lift
To the owner or said lift (and others) but is the lift fixed to the floor? I'd really like one but budget perhaps won't stretch to a fully plumbed in job but something similar to that sort of set up but hydraulic and mobile?
I seem to spend more time jacking cars up, positioning stands and worrying about how safe they are than actually achieving any work.
Bit limited by height... maybe four feet clear above but certainly enough to make brake changes and so on less of a chore.
My garage is only about four feet wider than the car, hence a mobile version would work well as I could move it to the far side, then move back over.
Or, really annoy the neighbours and use it on the drive!
I did debate one of these but I just don't trust 1.7 tonnes of car balanced on top of that so perhaps something in between this and the one the poster had for his grey Mercedes above...
Mayeb something like this?

Automotech also do 4 poster parking lifts worth a look. When down they can be wheeled around on casters and take little space as long as you allow for the pump + reservoir sticking out, and you can just drive on and park as usual. You don't need to bolt them down. The loading on the feet is when the car would be + the weight of 1/4 of the lift so they don't stress the floor.
You can also whizz them up and park underneath if you want extra storage. Then you can add a jacking beam for some proper mechanical work. A big advantage of a 4 poster + jacking beam over a sill based scissor is the free waist level shelf you get to lay out all the brake components out on. You also get the best ground clearance of any lift: if you can get up the shallow ramp you can lift it.
An interesting cheap LED lighting idea for garages:
