Does anyone have any ideas of what to do with a ceiling similar to this? I am planning on spraying or painting the walls white as per the OP but not sure weather to leave the wooden beams and 'strawboard' roof/ceiling of mine or paint the lot. Don't really want to install a ceiling, but was thinking of OSB if I did!
OSB would be good, I went over the top and plasterboarded and then artexed mine ... OSB would have been fine, painted white. Also, it's somehere to attach the LED lights you WILL want to upgrade too ...

I painted mine. It makes a huge difference to light levels and cuts the dust down.Caddyshack said:

That's really smart, is it a garage in a new build property?
If you look at the door type, door frame, switches etc...I would say this is not a new build or anything built within last 20 yrs.love this thread: it's cost me far more than i had planned - silly in a small space that i can no longer fit a car in (think I missed the point) , although i could barely move in it before. As we were renovating the house I took the opportunity to improve things a bit and board up the ceiling space so i could store bits i dont use very often. I've also gone down to 2 cars as we had a 80% stretching of budget for build cost.. it's still clocking up but the end is in sight.. (a purchase of a daily is planned for September - but let's not turn this is into a 'what car' thread).
a work in progress with still a few things to do: additional worktop, tv to install (great for watching how to vids on youtube, stream music etc)
Some truly aspirational builds here: I'm interested to know what sort of security systems you guys go for (appreciate you may not want to share all of the details publically)
I've tried to strengthen everything..

Her: Oh you've built a man cave?!?
Me: [without thinking] no, it's got a washing machine in it...

- garage door went from an up and over to a roller ( additional benefit of creating more usable space too - if like me space is a concern)
- I've improved he side door so it is more secure and has thin obscured glass to let light in but so people can't peer through (and then i post a pic on the internet )
- Wall anchors in and heavy duty chains and locks
- Security Cameras (Nest IQ)
- already had a pitbull (missus - hope she never sees this)

This is my gender neutral -nobody-allowed-in-but-me space.
This is very much the 'before' photo. I'm hoping that in about 6 weeks I'll be back with an image for my new gleaming work space.
Plan is relatively simple but seems a lot when written down.
- Dig up floor and replace entirely with something of a less severe incline and not broken up (currently 8 inch drop back to front)
- Drain channel across width with a dedicated drain under an tap on the right hand side at the front
- Tiled floor (porcelain or composite, not sure yet)
- White paint on all walls
- Some nice big canvases to cover up two blocked off internal windows on left hand side
- Brick up window on right hand side
- New door/s on front (maybe side hinged, not sure yet)
- Very sturdy homemade work bench with sink and storage across full width of back wall - looking forward to making that!
- U shaped loft area around whole garage, though this might change to a large loft platform as I'm concerned about access with a car in there.
- Lots of lighting and power
An update to my post originally posted in the Brick triple garage project and copied here by Krikkit.
This was the original double garage
After it had been demolished
Footings for the new triple garage
After the slab had been laid.
The roof timbers are about to be installed
Nearly finished
The outside and the flat upstairs are finished
The bit the cars go in is structurally complete and being used, but the cosmetic finishing is still outstanding i.e. the walls haven't been painted yet and the floor is still bare concrete. Pictures to follow when these bits are complete
