Since you're in the very lucky position of building from scratch, can I urge you to consider recess a scissor lift into the floor.

Even if you dont have much head height, you can get the car wheels off the ground and they're not expensive.

Best thing I did.
If I did any car maintenance I would do this, but I never have and prefer to pay a mechanic!

It is open plan, but the garage to the left has a door and window in the side, so I will probably breeze block a workshop area that will be easy to warm up in winter and may decide to divide the garage again.

I certainly won't be short of space - it's nearly 7metres deep!
I'll wager a bet that you will.... They're never big enough, however much room you have you'll fill it and want more.

I like that a lot. I plan to do something similar, perhaps with a red stripe like 'Speedys garage' on youtube.

Anyone have recommendations for foam/rubber matting to fill drawers to stop bits sliding around? Ideally in black, I need about 20 linear meters of the stuff!

Would also be interested to hear any recommendations for vices and vinyl printed splash backs.

This stuff would probably do for your drawer liners, seems to be similar to what comes in Halfords tool boxes.

I got a couple of second hand Record vices on ebay for a reasonable price, I'm refurbishing mine but they are available already done. I've got a Record No2 and a No4. Like these;

If you did want to paint them, then this stuff is what I'm using;

Can't help you on the vinyl splash back though I'm afraid.

Our very long drawn out project starting to come together.

My Dad is very proud of his weather vane. He had made in the shape of his car.

Your garage is bigger than my house!

Apart from the Bentley, what else is likely to go in there?

It’s bigger than mine as well. There is a barn out view I’m going to convert to 5 bedroom house that has a slightly smaller foot print.

Pretty much everything listed in our garage.

Continental GT
F430 Spider
911 Carrera 3.0
928GT

My father has very kindly designed it with me in mind leaving a spot for some kind of track car. Long term we want to buy a classic racer as well. So the middle section has been designed with space to work.

This is quite cringe but I jokingly suggested we have “Speed matters” written in Latin somewhere on the garage. He is actually going to do it!

Good point, mine's a boring white so it won't clash! laugh

Hopefully someone can advise me.

I'm after an electric single roller garage door, and I've had two quotes - £1790 and £1799.

Both are for a Hormann Roller Door, supplied and fitted.

Are these prices reasonable? I was imagining more in the range of £1250-1500.

If not can anyone suggest another supplier/fitter/brand or even just advise if the price is reasonable.
Happy to pay what I need to pay.

Thanks!

Mine isn't a Hormann, but cost about that +VAT, though my door is a bit wider (a few feet) than a standard single garage, so seems about right.

Bought and fitted mine - about £700-800. £350 for them to fit. You can pay more and get a better product but depends what level of door you want.

I had a quote of £3200 for two single insulated Hormann sectional doors, but I presume some of the costs don't double if you're buying two so maybe that's about right.

I had a pair of these sectional doors fitted couple of month ago.

Believe they are very similar to Hormann and guy who supplied and fitted them supplies Hormann as well.
