Wow looks fantastic. The carpet tiles seems like a great idea.

If you look at the back I have built a full width walk in cupboard across the back that has all the stuff in it.

Also building a small shed in the garden for the bikes and firewood.

Also had a good clear out

Just used heavy duty carpet tiles on the floor, glued the outside ones and left the middles loose so if they get damaged i can swop them.
Spilt some paint on a couple, jetwashed them and you wouldnt know now!
Excellent work

Radiator any use?
I am getting a boiler put in the attic to gain some space in the bathroom, and I wouldn't mind getting a quote to get a couple of radiators in my garage.

The garage is really well built and very dry, so a bit of heat would finish the job nicely.

Its just an electric one, the main house boiler is also in the garage so helps keep the edge off.
I have insulated the walls, the ceiling, decent door and double glazing - i have the rad on 14’c and it keeps it there quire easily

Thanks.
Even 10 degrees would be a big improvement on what I have.
It has Everest windows and doors in it, so I think if I was to insulate the ceiling, it wouldn’t be too inefficient.

At the minute I have to wear gloves for 2/3 months whilst in the gym.

I've got a couple of cheap (c.£20) electric radiators that I bought as a temp fix when I had boiler issues in the house (no heating etc).

I just stick one of these on in the garage if I need heating in the garage, and it works well, it's all I really need. If it's really cold, stick 'em both on, job done,

It’s 30 foot long like so would maybe need 2 or so.
My issue is that it’s only my extremities which are cold for the duration as my body warms up after 10/15 mins or so.
It’d be better if I could maintain an acceptable temperature just to take the edge off the freezing conditions,

I posted up about my workshop renovation last week or so and it's now finished for the time being...

Early January... A total mess

Last weekend, we received and laid the Plasfloor floor tiles and finished off tidying the work benches and mess! Plasfloor said it was the most elaborate floor design they've ever seen...

And with some shonky BMWs chucked in ready for work!

Further plans include an Automotech two post lift (where the E32 is nearest the work bench) and hopefully a new roof and door since they are on their last legs.

Our garage doors and fascia boards have now had a coat of paint. They’re all starting to come together.

All now are wired up with lights. Garage number 2 now has a four poster ramp installed... tight fit but it’s already made swapping wheels over a doddle! The ramp isn’t bolted down in the photo but is now.

Garage 3 I’m setting up as the detailing bay. Put a worktop in at the end, and will put some cupboards on the walls for products to go into. It currently has two Minis in!

We bought them last summer, they didn't look quite so pretty then.

They're a set of 10 garages with their own yard and driveway entrance, in a nice quiet residential area. Some came with existing tenants which we've slowly whittled down, we now have three garages rented to two tenants (two of which are the small ones on the end of the large block) and have seven for ourselves - six for cars, and one we're using as overflow storage for work.

They're a nice size... You can get two Minis in and still shut the doors, the Jensen and classic Mustang fit in them easily.

Okay time to request everyones input of garage modular storage systems. Potentially a big purchase for me.

The sealey premier range are the ones i'm currently looking at. They are better than the slimline sealey ones with an actually usable depth of 60 cm opposed to 46.

But I'm looking for something with an island of surface for say laying out engine bits during a build, and the modular stuff looked at so far is a bit short of work surface.

I did look at sealey plus going ebay for stainless steel food preparation tables. But has anyone else got any ideas?

i am having to look at the standard 46cm deep stuff as my garage is only 5.5m deep.

When you speak of an 'island' do you mean a continuous surface along a wall, or do you mean an island similar to a kitchen island where you can walk around it?

Look at 2nd hand metal office cabinets. You can lay work top on top of them or stack them

If you want proper industrial storage units/benches then forget Sealey, you need to be looking at Polstore, Bott or Lista. Expensive, but you really do get what you pay for. When I finally get around to sorting my garage/workshop I'll be talking to Bott, slightly cheaper I think, and they manufacture in Cornwall, keen to support UK manufacturing.

I remember going to the Benetton F1 place near Enstone years ago, where money really was no object, and seeing acres of Polstore cabinets. Mostly empty, too, if I recall correctly!

I prefer for mdf or ply worktops because they're sacrificial. Steel can be a pain for heat/electricity conduction.

Stainless steel worktops are a pain. They mark, dent and scratch, and show fingerprints straight away.

A 40mm thick industrial lino worktop can work well. They're very tough.

These guys can supply Bott (or other) cabinets and design an island for you. https://www.garagepride.co.uk/garage-cabinets/bott...

I have a friend who fabricated his own engine build stand/table. He tells me all metal construction is best when building engines.
