Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads?
Discussion
I definitely don't have anyhting like some of the big budget stuff but having just moved to a place that has my first garage I have ever had its quite an exciting start. Its a pretty old place, I suspect that given thr pit and what appears to be a heating pipe loop in, it was at one point a semi commercial garage. I suspect it was built turn of the century
Moving in date was full of the previous owners junk which he moved out after a couple of weeks
After a clear out and a BigDug delivery its a bit less of a dumping ground.
It's big enough for one car and then at least n-1 motorbike, plus a workbench at the back I recon. And eventually I'd like to knock out the bricked up windows at the back which should let a lot more light in. It already has water and electric so the sky is the limit. Or what my wife refers to 'All that crap in the garage will need clearing out when you pop your clogs'
Long term possibly a mezzanine in the roof space
I keep finding stuff like this....

^^^ That is a beautifully evocative building. Very jealous.
Agreed, superb...When he got around to wanting to work underneath his car, he took off the wooden boards and discovered the floor of the pit was covered with about six inches of old engine oil!

that's my dad's pit for sure, its great but about 10 years it started to suffer from water ingress and is now permanently an inch under water with a nice oily film. I keep meaning to drop some bricks down there and make a false floor but its his garage not mine. When he got around to wanting to work underneath his car, he took off the wooden boards and discovered the floor of the pit was covered with about six inches of old engine oil!
Instead we just keep some wellies in the garage

A few from me for the thread.
It's not a great space in terms of size, due to it being an offset double garage, but it is pretty practical being linked to the house.
Just waiting to finish it with something for the floor at end of spring, once I've completed more decorating in the house.
Some before and afters:
That looks a decent working space - is it heated? Mine would be if it was connected to the house ...It's not a great space in terms of size, due to it being an offset double garage, but it is pretty practical being linked to the house.

I’ve got a small heater in there, but haven’t actually used it once over the winter.
The carpet on the floor where the car doesn’t stand seems to really make a massive difference as you don’t feel the cold through your feet.

It does look good - I particularly like the stash of booze for when Moley needs some inspiration!Moley RUFC said:
I do, unashamedly, sit occasionally and have a beer in the car....the screams of the kids, the wife calling, the world in general just stop for a moment.
Man, if I had a 4c I'd be sat in it drinking beer with a grin on my face 24/7. My wife pointed out that as I have electrics in the garage, this means I can use homeplugs to get a network connection and a Google Home so she can call me when the kids are fighting.....

The carport outside is equally as old...but solid.

One of the first jobs I tackled was the gates as the house hadn't been lived in for a couple of years and the metal was green and rusty, so a weekend of wire wool and hammerite got them back to a decent state.

Then the family bikes needed a home that were not toppling over and hitting my car.
Next job is to replace the flouro battens with LED.

We're doing a kitchen refurb shortly, so my existing beer fridge will be excess to requirements very soon (new shiny (expensive!!) replacement incoming), so the old one will be relocated to the garage, so plenty of cold beers available in the garage bungle said:

It’s a lovely place to sit and have a beer isn’t it a garage? Once I sort the otherside of the garage out I am thinking of a small bar and a few pub games etc....
Oh yes I've already started buying stuff off here for the garage https://www.catawiki.com/c/708-classic-cars-motorc... , very addictive, and my wife is wondering what the large parcels are...

I'm a bit addicted to that auction site too .. I bought my Pirelli light box from there. Unfortunately duty now has to be paid on it from the EU.
