Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads?
Discussion
Another thumbs up for Rob and the team at Garage Concepts. Been a year since they came and revamped my old barn up to turn it into a decent place to store the bikes and cars.
Needed somewhere to work on stuff to. Couldnt install a proper lift due to thin concrete floor and didnt want/have the budget to dig it all out and then redo it. Also wasnt sure the walls would cave in due to its age (c1785).
Ended up with a area for the bikes, working area for the Dodge, storage area for tools and a worktop. Plus get the added benefit of having a 'man cave' area upstairs where I can chill, have a beer or just hide from MrsF.

Hi All. I'm just about to redo my garage and I'm interested in the walls being done here: did you do any prep before painting, or just go straight onto the breezeblocks? I'll vacuum them first, but do I need to soapwash or seal them before the first paint layer?
Mine were hell. A mist coat, followed by 3 coats of paint, using a paint gun. It took forever. I'd rather have battened and plastered it! Prep-wise, I just brushed it down
That’s me done for today. I’ve run out of carpet tiles. I’ll be picking up another 80 to finish off tomorrow.
I didn’t have time to finish off the walls today, as I needed to get the floor as finished as possible. I’ll finish off the walls over the next week or so.
I know it’s far from the best garage on here, but I think for a very meagre budget and a very limited timescale it’s looking alright, (or at least it will do when it’s finished).

Looking good 105.4!
Excited to get on this thread again - should be moving in a couple of months to a place with an integral double garage.
Needs a bit of work (especially given that the doors are the original 1993 up-and-over and one is broken) but should be a good workspace for the bikes and potentially a toy car / kit car once children and finances allow!
Priorities will be new doors (thinking anthracite / steel blue Hormann powered sectional ones but happy to listen to any recommendations), new light to replace that horrible globe outside, new lighting inside (LED panels - any recommendations?) and PlasFloor tiles.

I’ll start posting up the costings of what I’ve spent as hopefully it might help others in the future.
Sure, it would be great to have something like the top-tier garages on here and get tradesmen in to do the work, but sadly I’m not in that league.
With a bit of graft and settling for used materials / thinking out of the box, a respectable finish can be achieved for a low spend.

The title of the thread is “Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads” but a lot here want to demonstrate their wonderful car showrooms! Nothing wrong in that but a garage to me is a workspace not just a shiny set rooms for storing cars out of the weather. There is nothing like the satisfaction of enjoying the fruits of your own labours, more satisfaction than just throwing a bunch of money at a project.I’ll start posting up the costings of what I’ve spent as hopefully it might help others in the future.

The ones I’m impressed with are those that manage to do both things - nice place for the cars but also a nice well equipped place for tearing down/rebuilding the odd engine/gearbox/suspension when required. The really impressive ones are those that can do this on a pretty tight budget so crack on and keep us updated on the progress.

Please do. Nice to see the extremities of budget. I’ll start posting up the costings of what I’ve spent as hopefully it might help others in the future.

Out of interest, what did the landlord say? Presumably crack on given its a nice improvement.
