I have a large CO2 extinguisher in my workshop but the problem with all extinguishers is that you have to be there to know there is an issue and use them.

Smoke alarm with remote/app notification is probably as important unless you can stretch to a proper fire suppression system.

Question for people with nice garages; do you have a fire extinguisher or perhaps a couple dotted around your garage and if so what sort? Even better if you can post a link please.
I think it may be a good idea to have a couple hanging on the walls for easy access but I know there are different types so looking for suggestions. smile
No, but it is something that I have been meaning to sort out for a while - thanks for asking, hopefully we will get some good advice.
I use Fire Safety Sticks, having seen them on Number27 (ETA: Or Jayemm?)

Still got a CO2 extinguisher too.

My thinking is that I am most likely to be the cause of a fire... getmecoat

This is the sort of information I was hoping for!

I've got one of them handy in the Lagonda but I wondered if I should have something more substantial hanging on the wall just in case?

If their demos are to be believed a fire stick is much more capable. I'd have one on the wall instead of a big extinguisher, if only because it'd be easier to get through a cluttered garage to the issue.

I have one large CO2 and some dry powders. CO2 is the least troublesome post fact if you can get to the fire early enough and it does the job. If not then it's dry powder time and deal with the clean up later. I've got a fire blanket too as a first response option if it's something small, easiest cleanup of all!

I have a dry powder one by the door, (i ordered a couple for the house and put the extra on up in the garage). Been meaning to get a fire blanket and another extinguisher to put in the back corner of mine as i have a long narrow garage but haven't got round to it yet.

Same thinking as above, if there's a fire in the garage i assume I'm going to be the one to cause it while I'm in there!

Blue one is ancient. My Dad bought the red one for my birthday a few years ago - he obviously knows how dangerous my DIY is.

Having seen an M3 with severe fire damage because the fire stick didn't deploy properly, I'd suggest using a proper extinguisher in your garage just in case, you don't need the weight saving! biggrin

I've had an empty garage for the last few weeks so I finally got around to a spruce up. Nowhere near the best garage but I'm really pleased with the result.

That's quite an impressive transformation. Nice job, although does now almost look too clean biggrin
