Garage still stands.

Smashing photo. It would be an interesting Pistonheads challenge to name the types of car.

.... and with the door open ...

The space between the top of the lower car and the bottom of the lift assembly is about 5 inches
The space between the top car roll bar and the ceiling strip light is about 2 inches!

The pillar "leans" about 5mm into the garage at a point 2m above the ground when loaded. The base plate doesn't move, it seems the column bends when loaded and straightens back when unloaded.

Yes - I'd absolutely recommend this set up - it's so easy to work on the cars when they are elevated -plus the storage advantages of getting getting three cars in a two car garage

Excellent - thanks for that - always good to get independent verifcation of a product before splashing out :-)

Of course - but I am afraid to say that whilst the building still stands, and the downstair is still relatively open plan, and a studio - its not .
Hurry up. wink

The build of mine has started...

7.5m wide. 7m deep. Two 2.4m wide electric up/over doors on the front. Two storey with room above, stairs on the outside leading up to the door.

Just mulling over how to kit it out. Paint the floor/walls. Fitted cupboards along the back wall with a bench and a window overlooking the field at the back.

Exciting times!

Here are a few of my garage. The ramp allows me to still put two cars in there side by side, as I can drive over it. its also really versatile as I use it as a bike lift as well.

I have a workshop to the side with a lathe, drill, bead blaster, welder and an old milling machine, and a store above the garage via the stairs

What's the approximate cost of a lift like that? I'm going to be limited by head height as it's just a standard-ish ceiling heither in there. The plan now is to use it for parking only as i have another garage that i use as a workshop, but if i can get a lift in there that would be brilliant! Ideally i'd go for a 2-post, but height is a problem for one of those

Mine was about £1500 many years ago, they dont seem to have gone up much. here is the link where I bought it, great company to deal with...

Bought mine from Automech a well, so a +1 from me as well. I ended up with a full sized one and altered the ceiling to accommodate the car roof. Re-set the limit on the lift so I don't get "over ambitious" though.

Oh, Buzzer: Thanks for the advice (ages ago) on your extraction system for the blast cabinet, finally got round to doing it on mine. biggrin

no problem.

I wanted to go higher with the lift, but it would have meant BIG alterations to the garage, so I went for the mid height one. With a tall car I still have to be careful it does not hit the RSJ.... A while ago I had a Jeep on there and I took it a bit too high, and as you probably know, the lift goes up 25mm when you press the down button so it clears the lock stops yikesyikesyikes

I didn't dare risk it going up and touching the RSJ, so I had to carefully let a bit of hydraulic fluid out so it came down a bit!
I keep meaning to fit some sort of stop to prevent it going too high.
