Right sledging aside guys I am in the same boat as a few other guys in this thread...
No personal experience but have come to consider this car as nothing if not competent in the areas in which it aims to succeed (obv. all from prior reviews/hearsay).
The question which doesnt seemed to have been bridged here is 'what's better for 10k?'
I like the last gen of M3's but as has been said you're looking at circa 15k for one which is 50% more cash!
Also unlike some of the other posters I am quite happy to accept that the car doesn't float everyones' boat as I was equally uninspired by the Rex which I was sold on until I drove it.
The 10k region is where I am looking at the moment, but it has only been the idea of the 350z which has made me consider changing the chim.

A lot of people graduate from things like TTs and Hyundai Coupes to 350Zs and feel as if they are making a big step up up terms of power and control sophistication. Coming from a Tiv, I can see how the Zed would feel dull, heavy and a little artificial. Try one by all means and see what you think but it's certainly a more sanitised experience.

Maybe a Z3M Coupe would be more your thing?

you make no sense. why am I not allowed to dislike something that you do? supermarkets must be needlessly taxing to you- after all why offer more than one choice?

Tell you what, heres fun: take me through why i should like it (other than the fact that you do or that people youve read about do). Ive stated pretty clearly and concisely why I dont like it. Now you tell me why I should. If youre compelling enough, I'll happily cave and totally change my mind about it. Hell, I'll even like everything else you like.

How's that? seem fair? Or shall we spend the rest of time bickering because our opinions differ? Im fine either way, I have nothing but time for well rounded souls such as you.

the 350z is honestly the sttest car I've ever driven. hugely over-rated. if you want to be dragged along by a headache that feels like its going to high-side at any moment, by a jet ski and drive it on ice.
Judging by your opening position, I reckon that reasoned discussion may prove futile. Sorry.

ok, seems reasonable.

just so were clear though, you are willing to keep making snipes at the credibility of my opinion? just without- yknow- explaining why? have I got that right? Id hate to just assume you were one of those internet guys who gets all mad because people dont like his stuff, if it isnt the case.

I carry no torch for the 350Z. Never owned one, not in Nissan's employ and recognise that there are other cars in its class that many will find preferable. I do, however, acknowledge that it's a decent car. It's reasonably quick, has a very good chassis, is reliable, isn't catastrophic on fuel and is good fun to punt around a track. I also think it's good looking, has a nice engine note and I like the steering heft of early cars and even the drivetrain vibration. Your mileage may vary. Certain things aren't so clever as many owners here have highlighted and I take exception with none of them.

Far be it from me to tell you how you should be thinking. Dissenting opinions are fine by me. What I fail to grasp is how somebody who now writes for an online car magazine can proclaim a 350Z to be the sttiest car they've ever driven. Are you merely posturing with Clarksonesque hyperbole or is that your considered opinion? Most owners will attest to the fact that they actually feel very planted, with roll generally well suppressed given the car's weight. The ESP system works well and you can switch it off if you want to experience some controllable oversteer. Road Magazine, on page 68 of this months issue, highlights the 350Z's "proper chassis layout, front-engine and, best of all, rear wheel drive with limited slip differential. Power oversteer on tap for ad-lib sideways shenanigans whenever you desire." Sounds great.

Put simply, I'd have no issue if some numbnut poster had spouted that opinion. From you I expect more sense. You got called on it. That's about it.

In your opinion. Which is not the same as mine.

Because that's my opinion, based on the things i do and dont like about cars and about that car. And my opinion is not the same as yours. do you see?

strange thing to say. I just dont like it, for the reasons stated earlier in this post. im not trying to be reactionary, I have no need to be, No more than youre trying to be like Harris by liking it, I would hope. I mailed you a few hours ago to that effect, which you ignored.

Or must i be trying to emulate clarkson if im dont like stuff that you do then? gosh. thats going to take a ton of my time. could you send me a list? that way, I can get cracking right away.

thats their opinion. it doesnt have to match mine, does it? or does it?

In someone else on the mags opinion, not mine. We dont have one singular global thought on the magazine, thats kinda what makes magazines work, no? But then, you know that, right?

Btw, were you hoping that would make me look as if I was contradicting myself? Posting that is as relevant as posting any other review of the car. More strangeness.

Whilst Im touched thats the first not wilfully arguementative thing you've posted so far, this for me is the crux of my point. Why is it so non-sensical that a car doesnt appeal to me? Others have said much the same thing, and I know plenty more folks who hate 'em. Just as I know plenty who like 'em. Again, the fact that you like the car and I dont doesnt mean Im wrong, nor does it mean I should start to review my opinion. so how and what are you 'calling me' on?

Less of the tedious fisking please.

You are defending a position that is ludicrous and I don't intend to waste any more time with you. You've shown your judgment to be weak. A better man would probably hold their hands up and acknowledge that the initial opinion was silly. If it is true, I can only assume you haven't driven too many truly stty cars.

You need to get out more.

I can a little bit see why you might think Nervy could have taken a more measured approach in his first post....if you think that is what a magazine contributor should do...

But,

why the hell should he change his opinion just because someone else's is different? Any amount of persuasion that marmite tastes nice is not going to change my opinion that it tastes like crap. Personal preference is opinion numpty!
