Saab 900 classic has a flat floor when the rear seats are folded forwards/down and it's got lots of room lengthwise.

Every time I've been camping I've ended up sleeping in the car. What I particularly hated about staying in a tent was wrapping up warm at night because its so freezing, only to wake up to the tent becoming an oven. Didn't seem to get any of that in a car. It was in my old 306, didn't find it terribly comfortable with the front passenger seat reclined, but the rear seat was quite comfy to lie on despite not being able to streach out

The solution to that is to take along a 19kg propane bottle and a free-standing panel heater. Gets the tent lovely and toasty, then when you get up in the morning you can stand it on its back and cook your breakfast on it.

Old Volvo 240 estates, they're huge with the seats down (74 inches).

I don't think modern estates will even come close to that.
Yup, I've slept in mine a few times up the hills.Even spent a night in it in London, when I drove down and discovered my newly rented flat had been stripped that night. I was really pissed off when Mrs. Tunku rolled it though.

Those rear seat belt mounting points look incredibly flimsy in that ... they must be more substantial in reality, surely?

Does anyone know if the RS6 C6/7 and E63 W212/213 have flat floors when the rear seats are put down?

Slept in cars loads of times, whilst walking in the Lake district in my youth, usually in the back of mid sized/large hatchbacks with the back seats folded down, loads of room, but it can get very cold, so take a good sleeping bag and some blankets and pillows you'll be fine.

Find a safe place to park up out of the way, and don't have anything much to drink in case plod tap on the window. (unlikely)

If it does get too cold you can always run the engine for ten minutes or so, but keep awake.
