There was one parked in Bewdley back in May - the fact I remember that nearly 5 months later should give an indication as to how much presence the car had, stunning!
I can imagine. Probably dwarfed St. Anne's Church for a start!

As a reformed boy-racer around the 3 Wyre Forest towns, I have to say that Bewdley bridge, the gaps either side of St. Anne's, the Switchback etc. are not places I'd want to be threading this behemoth through!

Funny you should say that, it was parked right next to St Anne's!

They are the last of the proper Crewe built Rolls Royce's (even if they are badged as Bentleys, these cars are Royce's, as is my Turbo R).

I'm afraid the tone of this'test'was rather downmarket and more suited to the Continental GT. One does not 'mash' the accelerator of a proper Bentley nor should one ever be parked on a 'driveway'.
Although I can relate to the benign oversteering nature,my old Turbo R could be held in massive slides that terrified onlookers but felt perfectly safe from behind the wheel.

The writer of this article states.
"This is where its cruciform of lightweight carbon fibre cross-braces comes in to provide not only a nearly scuttle free ride, but also help with cornering."
This does not make sense! The writer must mean 'scuttle shake'.

As i say about all cars of this type, it's 'cos i can' car. No other reason, it just exudes elegance and style - pure waftability.
Ideal for those folks for whom Aston Martin are
just *too* down market.

Let's guess at Group 20 insurance and 15 mpg tops,
possibly 100-120 quid a fillup.
Wasn't it Bentley who's dealers had the line about the price ?

As my Dad used to say "And you'll drive through a forest of out-stretched palms!"

He had a Bentley "Standard Steel" in the late 50's, for about a month. Swapped it for a MkII 3.8 that I remember fondly!

What exactly are the qualifications for being a PH journo? I can't see how this guy was in the least bit suitable...

Agreed. To be honest that review could have been written without ever getting to within a mile of the car and the pictures are file photos unless Leicester has been moved to the Med. I'd still like to know which 'tight' corners he was 'sliding' the car around.

Would have one of those over a Phantom Coupe in a shot.

I think we need a small number of automotive leviathons like this and when you look inside it almost seems like a bargain. Bearing in mind the average owner (at least when it's new) already has a fleet of other cars for the less-Bentley occasions I'd say it was a rather appealing buy.

One of the only cars I would be genuinely embarassed about being seen in.

Vulgar and grotesque.

To me it exudes the exact opposite of class, it just shouts 'look how much money I have'

He said: This car is at its best when you are just cruising.

Just cruising?

In a car like this big Bent it isn't 'just cruising'.

Eh?

Am I the only one who thinks the front of that car just isn't working in that colour? All the other angles look between fine & fabulous; but that front....
