Maybe no-one belived the owner, so he stuck the badge on
If you were going to stick it anywhere wouldnt it be lower right
At least the number plate fits the recess
Earlier on I did a mock up of the badge bottom right. I didn't post it as it seemed a bit weird and obsessive. The point I hoped to make was, as you point out, the owner has no sense of where a motor manufacturer would put the badge. That is, if they stooped to putting a badge on at all, which they hadn't.

It's on my laptop. I'll switch it on and see how bad it looks.

They have too much style to do it all. It's why I'm appalled at Aston Martin for starting to write Aston Martin on their cars. It's ostentatious.

Don't zoom in. My laptop just has the MS Paint it came with.

In comparison that's fine

Not misbadged in the sense of it being incorrect, more in the sense of why the fk would you do that?
Suddenly I'm thinking Rover 75, is that where the v8 badge is from?

I like the options the owner must consider when people see the badge;
1 - They’re a petrol head, know what the car is and think he is a tt for doing this to a very nice car.
2 - They don’t care about cars so won’t even look or care.
3 - Fellow misbadgers see him as the messiah of misbadging

The fake M5, that dealer (My next car) is just down the road from me, the biggest bunch of crooks going.
I called and arranged to look at a 10 plate GTR from them a few years back, it was clear it was damage/repaired but unregistered and badly at that just from the test drive.

When i pointed out the crease in the inner wing they got very upset and a whole load of their sales guys suddenly appeared stinking of weed and surrounded me and ushered me off the forecourt.

Remarkably they had the cheek to call me back a few hours later and offered me some silly low price to buy as it is.

I know of several people who have purchased cars from them, all with some kind of hidden history

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... << stay well clear.
Really odd mix of stock... Micra banger for £290 all the way up to a £170,000 Fezza. Seems to me like something fishy going on there, wonder if they also have a laundrumat business? .
Didn't there used to be a dodgy dealer in that area that was connected to Motorhub? They seem to have a similar business model.
Why did keighly car centre (or keighly something spring immediately to my mind?!

They were good at dressing up a banger as I recall.

Terrible rep across various forums .
if you read the complete listing and look under the heading of "Auto Trader Vehicle Check" and click on the tab at the bottom of the advert it does actually state the vehicle has been in an accident and written off by the insurer as uneconomic to repair........you need to be better at doing youre own checks before wasting yours or the salesmans time.

it was there spelled out for you in black and white, crease or no crease. personally i would have saved myself a trip and just looked up the next advert.

What's the point of speccing huge M type brakes on a 116 ?
I've got them on mine laugh

I've gone the other way with mine, I've got an M140i and it's currently sporting a 114i badge.

I purely did it for a laugh really, especially with so many people buying cooking spec diesel BM's, Merc's etc and adorning them with every possible ///M / AMG tat you can buy.

The M140i is ideal because unlike the A45 / RS3 etc it's pretty understated. The twin exhausts give it away, but I've got an M Performance exhaust on it with 640D black tailpipe trims rather than the horrendous chrome ///M branded affairs you get with it, it's about as subtle as I can make it. I like that it's basically completely non-descript and a generic grey boring BM.

I'm sure at some point I'll get bored and de-badge it totally, but I'll not be putting any bloody ///M badges on it.

Just been behind a Merc R129 SL for a few miles today. Badged as SL73 on NS and AMG badge on OS rear.
Turns out to be a 300SL.
Looked lovely though in red and in immaculate condition. Think Inwould just debadge it

Awesome. I nearly did similar and bought a GTD badge for my Golf R! Never got the badge on in the end as I sold the car.

D4MJT - like that - I would do the same, in all honesty. There's something funny about going faster than others would expect in a car that looks totally unassuming.

i can maybe just about see why you might consider a de-badge but a reverse badging to look like a lower engine or spec? why? possibly you might fool a thief in they are snooping around at 3am looking for a top spec motor but its all this talk about "fooling other target drivers"............dont be a silly sausage.

thats nearly as bad as calling the latest and fastest thing on 4 wheels a "weapon".

Saw a V-reg Audi A3 today with an 'S' badge.

Only problem is it was right by the '1.6' badge left on..

Never knew Audi made an 'S1.6'

..or a B7 Audi RS42.0TDI I keep seeing about being driven horrendously.
