misbadging cars

I enjoyed this one. Presumably one of the reasons BMW went with 'X5M' for their full-fat X5 rather than 'MX5' is because a huge bloated toad of an SUV is about as far away from a lightweight Japanese roadster as it's possible to be.OK I'm throwing myself into the lions' den with this one.
My own car, a 2015 BMW fitted with 50th Anniversary of M badges because, well I think they look nice. Except it's not an M model and it's 6 years too early for the annivesary.
I only got them becuase a couple of the centre caps were tatty. Brutally honest opinions wanted - should I get over myself and put the standard ones back on?

I’d keep them, you’re not explicitly badging your car as a different model. My own car, a 2015 BMW fitted with 50th Anniversary of M badges because, well I think they look nice. Except it's not an M model and it's 6 years too early for the annivesary.

I like them as they’re a bit different, but I’m biased.

I think you should, but if you like them that's all that matters really! My own car, a 2015 BMW fitted with 50th Anniversary of M badges because, well I think they look nice. Except it's not an M model and it's 6 years too early for the annivesary.

One of my BMWs is an M, but as it dates from 2006 I didn't even think about 50th Anniversary badges for it.

Saying that, I don’t mind those badges on any BMW as they represent a celebration of 50 years. It’s not trying to be something it’s not like a 320d covered in M badges.

Personally, I prefer the standard badge. That looks like a dartboard or the rotating blue circle while your internet loads. My own car, a 2015 BMW fitted with 50th Anniversary of M badges because, well I think they look nice. Except it's not an M model and it's 6 years too early for the annivesary.

Not that I would particularly single it out as I had no idea what the badge was anyway.

I can sense the weary frustration in that typed sheet... How many hours of his life has he wasted trying to explain this to beards who aren't even listening because their inner monologue is smugly congratulating themselves on their superior Ford Escort knowledge? Several, that's how many.
