The one thing I think that lets the Ultima down is the cockpit design. They all look like an afterthought.
I love the cockpit. Its only got the things you need.

Favorite car right there, and what a fine example - i never did like the standard wheels that much. All it needs now is the LED tail lights.

Stupid question, but if they used Porsche gearboxes, then wouldn't the wheels be spinning the wrong way?

Not stupid at all. I believe they change the final drive to correct this.

All you need to do is turn the gearbox upside down smile

Whats not to like? A road going lemans rep that will stop everyone in their tracks.period.

Next year if the housing markets still fecked i`m going to sell my westie and buy one.

Stuff the atoms,r500`s etc nothing comes close in my eyes smile

I think the Ultima built by yourself and then used on road & track would qualify you as "The" PH. Makes the Bug look like a joke car for medallion man.

It certainly looks like it won the race to the ugly giveaway.

Certainly one of the "want to haves" as next car smile

And pity that Top Gear doesn't allow them a go on their track indeed....

I like the wheels Pete. A nice addition that follow the light weight ethos.

Did you ever get the car to top 200mph?

As I understand it the box is actually running the right side up in the Ultima; it's actually upside down in the Porsche.

Thanks for all the great comments chaps. Nice to see all the hard work getting it's 15 mins of fame wink

For anyone thinking of building, it's a most pleasurable experience. A man size Meccano set!!! Just spec it right first time, set your goals and go for it!!

Mine cost about £55K in parts, with about £10K extra on Dymag carbin fibre rims/magnesium alloy spokes,Quaife ATB, Kumho tyres, uprates springs and race clutch.

I had a wet sump to start with, but I hadn't bargained on all the track work - so the engine came out and got rebuilt by Charles Dunn Engineering, who put the dry sump in and tweaked a few other parts to help the engine survive what trackdays throw at it!! (damn - another £10K)

It also has a knock sensor by Phormula to keep an eye on what's going on!!

Anyway -get yourselves to the Factory and get Ted to give you a test fright!!! You won't be disapointed!!

Cheers

Lucky.

Sadly not. 188mph at Brunters. A lesson in being over eager with the ratios and not understanding that with 'only' 500BHP you can't push those tall gears.

Back to std ratios in the G50 box so limited to 175mph @ 7000rpm. Enough for most tracks that I've run.

Not getting in 'the club' will niggle me forever. Hay-ho.

Off to Donnington for the first time tomorrow (today eek) so I best get some kip.

Nighty-night PHers..........
