This Cosworth jiggery pokery raised the power from 195bhp to 206bhp
So they gave it a massive power increase of 11 bhp!

I do like these though, suprised they haven't appeared in sotw before, lot of car for the money. Wonder what it would be like on a track stripped out with 2 bucket seats.
IIRC the stock 2.9 unit was circa 150bhp, and Cosworth took it up to around circa 200bhp.

In the Prosports/LM 3000's these engines made 340BHP. They can go to 380BHP but the blocks crack.

That should test out the "brake upgrade"!

Soft spot in my heart for these - the first powerful RWD auto I drove - Kickdown in the wet was brilliant!

Bellhousing adaptor from Ford (Police/MOD spec), MT75 manual box... wahoo! RWD barge-drifting fun!!

I know someone got the adaptor from Ford at some ridiculous price, and whacked a Cosworth 24v into a transit!! It was a giggle!

I had one of these when recovering from a broken leg. Was in a colour quite close to Magenta and is by far one of the best " Sheds" I have owned...that said it wasnt a high mileage car and chewed its gearbox to bits in a lakeside car park...

So hang on. Are we suggesting that there is a mistake in a PH write up. I'm not sure what to say. I'll have to check the records to see the last time this happened.... Garlic's not going to be happy. hehe

A nice old barge. A good shed me thinks.

Can someone find me one for £200 or less?, I need something for next years Crumble Rally.
Have you got any details for the crumble rally, i assume it is similar to the Mongol Rally, which i considered after some mates of mine did it, but i haven't got the time to do it!

The Scorpio Cosworth had around 200ish hp, up from the standard 100-150ish bhp, something like that.

It's Friday smile

I had a Scorpio. Not a Cosworth, but a 2.9i 4x4 manual. Very comfy inside - electric everything including the rear seat. But not that fast and handled like a barge eek

Driven a few of these, and in their day, they were fairly brisk. Was quicker than the XR2i of the time.

Had a ride in one of the development cars when Ford were deciding which way to go with these. It had the 2.9 with twin turbo's. Memories of going sideways down a slip road. They also had one with the Sierre Cosworth engine in it.

The Mk3 Granada featured the first generation Cosworth (engine code BOA) with 195bhp. The Scorpio (Frogeye) had the revised version (code BOB) with 206bhp. nerd

I had one as my second car at a tender 18 years old (used to be my Dad's). Seems rather tame now, but at the time it was a big step up from my 1.1 fiesta. Mine had a small hole in the silencer somewhere so it sounded rather rorty! smile

Is the engine a heavy lump?

Sounds as though it'd be a good engine for some sort of conversion

I had one of these briefly in 1996 it was rubbish then and even more rubbish now.

The only thing worth doing to a Granny Cossie is rip the engine out and put it somewhere more deserving, like a Capri maybe?
