"With 1.5 G you feel the dampers working" - utter bull$hit! In a vehicle like the X5M you will never ever see g-forces near 1.5. Ridiculous!

Think I might buy one and then park it outside the Green Party HQ with a hose running from the exhaust to their letterbox.

As it's been said, an SUV shouldn't really be garnished with the M badge. But again, like it's been said, this will annoy the eco-lentil eating sandle wearers so much I want one now...

Are you a complete and utter tosspot yet worried not enough people know? Well your problems have been answered

I hear they come with private plates and foglights on straight from the factory. It also has advanced radar guided cruise control that can sit a foot off your bumper and park assist that will put it on the curb in such a way that blocks the entire road at 3pm

Assume the speedo's correct 'M' Man is punting the X5M at 60mph through Klostertal and 55mph through Karussel, dunno if that would generate 1.5G's??

Is there a PH'er that knows corner speeds at the 'Ring? Are those speeds fast??

1.5G lateral when you are getting about 0.5g from being half tipped over isn't hard...

If it did that on a skidpan it would be a bit more impressive biggrin

It was only the other day that I asked myself "could BMW make a more pointless car?"

And here lies the answer I was seeking...

That must be vertical force as its weight flattens the tarmac.

Anyone know what the engine's gonna be. I reckon its either a tuned version of the 3.0 twin turbo petrol, the 4.8 twin turbo V8 from the X6 and the new 7 or possibly the V8 from the M3. I reckon it would be great with the new M DCT gearbox.
Still it would have to be mega great to tempt me from my Cayenne Turbo S
I predict it'll be the all things to all men twin-turbo V8 installed.
I thought at one point in the video you could almost hear the hit of a V10, perhaps a 550hp version of the M5/M6's?

now that the X5 has an even more sporty variant - makes we wonder just what the point of the X6 is for.....

Absolutely pointless in my opinion - and to those who think the greenies will hate this thing, think again, they'll be rubbing their spiteful little hands with glee at the extra ammunition against all things petrol driven.

Is this not just a X5 with M Sports kit being tested? Madness if it is a proper M model. A good friend has a DMS tweeked new X5 D and that is plenty fast enough for such a car.

Where is the M3 CSL? Or a light weight 135i?

Given the season I hereby confess to owning an old model 4.4 V8 X5 ['Sport' don't you know!] that is quite fast thank you very much, although on two occasions in the the last year I have wished for more acceleration/straight line speed although as others have pointed put, lateral grip is a factor of mass, weight and physiscs which the 4WD does well to manage.

Driven 'energetically' I am lucky to see above 20 mpg, so an LPG conversion might be worth considering if you do buy one!!

Would I want one? Not really thanks - part owned M3 or M5 as a second vehicle? - now you're talking Santa!!

So they didn't make an M3 CSL for... this?

God damn it BMW, really dropped the ball.

They are a business mate. These will sell. CSL's probably won't.

I seriously doubt there will be an X5M, or indeed an X6M. May well be a sportier version of the current line up, but I doubt they will build one.

They thought about it with the first incarnation of the X5, in good times, and even built one with a similar engine to the F1. I'll eat my shoes if they do.

These devalue the M brand further. Stop it, BMW.
Agreed. We need a M1 or an M7 more than this. Utterly pointless
Although an M1 would be pissing all over the original M1. the 135i is an M in all but name?

Not sure about an M7. Not sure if thats a good idea or not - but it would go head to head with the uber AMG mercs though.
