So they didn't make an M3 CSL for... this?

God damn it BMW, really dropped the ball.
They are a business mate. These will sell. CSL's probably won't.
I brought a CSL (although 2nd hand), brilliant car, absolutely brilliant and I will have one again...

Plenty of people bought the E46 M3. Not that many people bought the E92. On that alone, I wouldn't bother with the CSL E92.

Good point, so probably only a hundred or so CSL versions would sell then (Was around 420 of the E46)

But whats the point in it?

Whats next? F1 cars in Kielder Forest?
I am struggling to find a single reason why that wouldn't be a great idea?

I have no problem with BMW making uberfast versions of the X5 and X6 plys please dont use the M badge, 2 tons SUV's couldnt have much less to do with motorsport (unless they are sending some on the Dakar rally)

FWIW i saw an X6 the other day, its not bad at all, MUCH nicer looking than a Cayenne.

hang on this might be my slightly shaky memory but didn't BMW do a sort of one off X5 at launch time that had a really really stupid engine something like a V12 out of a le mans racer

Ooo great another yet faster performance 4x4/suv/lump of junk thats used by women to take their kids to school in a rush while butchering everyone elses on their way. I bet thats why that front bumper is like that!
Lets be honest over the past 6years maybe more cars have become Playstations, you dont actually drive anymore its point and go. Soon it will be like that Toyota Avensis advert with "the Passanger" song by Iggy Pop might not even need a driving licence then!

I'm trying to work out the symbolism of the barryboy front air dam.

Is that road-rash from multiple fast laps of the 'ring, excess pigeon guano from the M-factory car park, or a new BMW paint finish, combine the three available colours, white, silver and black?

The new X5 M and X6 M, coming to a tailgating tosser near you soon.
Nope, if Clarkson Philosophy is to be believed, the tailgate tossers (or simply, Cocks) will be waiting for a beefed up petrol power Audi Q7

And on the subject of BMW making pretty much pointless niche cars to fill non existant gaps in the market; who do they think they are, Mercedes? (Don't get me wrong, I love Mercedes, but the R Class was a bit pointless and people aren't going to need a GL because the M Class is plenty big enough, anyway, why even call it a GL, the letter G should be used on that great barge of a thing Merc made for the German military and that's an end. Plus, the B Class is a bit pointless, why not get an A Class with 5 doors and a bit more kit? And the new CLC is a waste of time, why design a whole new C Class platform, then for the baby coupe compact thing, just use a million year old design with a new nose? It's a car, not Michael Jackson!) Anyway, rant about some of Merc's range over. BMW are making pointless cars now the cocks are apparantly switching to Audi's, stop it! Give us a new M1 which is a supercar like the namesake suggests, not a 1 series with some bling and a new pointless gizmo that'll cause us to crash.

the 135i is an M in all but name?
It's still a bit too soft even with the standard sport suspension. And no LSD.

Assume the speedo's correct 'M' Man is punting the X5M at 60mph through Klostertal and 55mph through Karussel, dunno if that would generate 1.5G's??

Is there a PH'er that knows corner speeds at the 'Ring? Are those speeds fast??
60 and 55 mph is about what the ZR1 pulled through those corners in GM's video. Even accounting for a 2-3 mph speedo error, that seems very fast for this type of vehicle. According to the Sport Auto super test, the E92 M3 generates about 1.2G at Klostertal (and a high of 1.3G anywhere else on the track), and hit 52 mph there, so I doubt either figure for this X5 M is accurate.

Agree and they could have made an additional brand out of CSL's as Porsche have done with GT3, allowing the true sports car and the grand tourer type.

Absolutely pointless in my opinion - and to those who think the greenies will hate this thing, think again, they'll be rubbing their spiteful little hands with glee at the extra ammunition against all things petrol driven.
Exactly this and the fact that it devalues the M badge just as much as chavs putting it on E30 316s make this the worst idea since Hitler thought that winter in Moscow might be a good holiday option.
