Outside of the 3.0 BMW Are there any other small production V8 engines?

The BMW one isn't particularly modern, unless I'm missing something?

The last time the 3.0 V8 saw the light of day was in the E34 5-series which would have been what, 13 years ago? unless i am missing something?

Smallest in production now have to be around the 4.0 mark, BMW M3?

Audi do a 3.7 litre V8 in the A8 (at least they used to). There 4.2 is also one of the smaller production V8's.

Jaguar did a 3.2 V8 in the XJ, at least in the X305's. Not sure whether they discontinued it for the X350 mind, and I guess it's not ESPECIALLY new... (1997ish?)

What's the motor in the radical v8? I seem to recall it having heads from a Hayabusa and a custom made block/crankcase... I assume it's 2600cc but there are plenty of over-bored Hayabusa's around (up to 1900cc IIRC)

OK, so it's certainly not mainstream but interesting nonetheless... hehe I'd like one! Wrapped in an Ultima maybe...

Volvo V8 which is North America only so far?.. oh now available in XC90 in UK

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Yamaha_V8_engine

.. transverse installation. Designed by Yamaha. Made in Japan. 4.4 litre. 60 degree V. 311 hp (232 kW) and 325 ft·lbf (441 N·m). There was a 3.4l US V8 (see Wiki)

Just waiting for a £45k car to turn up at a local scrappy to fit to anything RWD for £200..in my dreams.

Guess it will be narrow (60deg) compared to an early Lexus 4litre V8 quad cam..
Audi's V8 is 4.2l..(RS4 etc)
Lotus Esprit 918 3.5 L twin turbo engine 355 bhp (265 kW; 360 PS),
Good old Rover's start at 3 litres..
Daimler V8 engines 2.5litre if you could find one and live with the age.

If you mean Rover V8, that was 3.5L.

And didn't Lambo do a 3.0 V8 in the Urraco..??

And the 60hp 17 stud Ford Flathead of 1937-1940 was only 136ci or 2.25L........not exactly modern of course biggrin

By small you mean capacity?

I ask because the M60 3l V8 is physically bigger and heavier (the one in the e32) than the 6.8l stroked L92 (a version of an LS1) that I am having built.

Caparo T1 has a modern 3.5ltr V8, originally a 2.4ltr supercharged V8.

Designed by Yamaha? Cos I seem to recall that their V8 outboard is supposed to be a ford derived motor.

according to Wiki - The smallest ever production V8 was the Ferrari 208GTB's 2.0 V8 - guess it was built for the italian market to get around taxation problems

..they then turbo'd it which sounds sort of fun for turning up the boost.. but expensive to when it goes pop!
