I had this 900 T16VS last year: Sold it on Ebay for a paltry £800 with a long MOT. Insanely quick for 175bhp (in a straight line..) with the most godawful front seats. I kindof miss it

I obviously missed that one - would have been very tempting!

900 front seats being awful is often down to a failed "trampoline" (the sprung "mat" in the seat base which supports your weight) - was their a hollow into which you had to sit? As others have said, 99/900 (and even 95/96) seats were some of the best in the business, so it is unusual to have them slated.

For those with a hankering for buckets, Saab used to sell dealer accessory seat covers with additional bolstering sewn in. I haven't seen any in a long, long time however.

My mistake, the front seats in my '94 GM 900T were the'godawful' ones - I used to slide across the seat base when cornering not especially hard. Ive had so many cars they blur a little..

The seats weren't the problem in that ... the suspension was ... wallowy barge unless you stiffened it and then it handles even worse LOL

99's are a neat retro car .. shorter than a c900.. the 90 had the benefit of a better boot and some c900 refinements with the quirkiness of the 99

How cheap does a car have to be? it's all about whether "that car" is what you fancy driving for a while. At £500 - £1000 you're in gambling territory and it could go either way but if it goes the right way .. it's cheap motoring

Really? Refinements in a 90? smile

The main change for the 90 was a revised steering column mount in the cabin, which altered the angle of the steering wheel to make it less, err, bus-like. If you ever see a 90 in a scrap yard, grab that bracket (I believe the column is common), as many 99 owners would like that mod!

Hi Steve
I had my GM 900T lowered with GSF springs, it was a huge drop about 60mm I think (have just been trying to find a pic of it with no success)
Anyway... you may remember the 900T16 pictured as I brought it around your house once and bought a radiator from you. You had just changed the headliner in a met red 900 16v at the time.

I tuned one of these H-type engines to 171BHP and no-one has beat that as far as I know! Went like stink but only after 3000rpm as it had road/rally cams!

I'd have this lowered with some modern 17s on it. Would look great!

That sounds peaky smile Was that an 8V or 16V motor? Any torque to speak of?
