Really like the bonnet slates. The Vantage is a very beautiful car, but I still think the Maseratti Granturismo is the best looking car in production.
The Maser is very pretty, but I can never quite get over how massive they are when I see one in the flesh. ENORMOUS!
Massive - and with that Massive Snout!

Would sell any body parts (as long as I could still drive!) for one. As soon as I saw the concept I fell in love with it. Shame about the wheels though as many have already said.

So,Aston makes a hardcore V12 version of its small and beautiful all-aluminium GT and it comes at 1680 Kg,around the same as the 55k 4WD GTR and 300 Kg more than the Scuderia,GT3RS and the V10 4WD Gallardo Superleggera, all of them with similar power outputs.

Half-baked track make-up(why rear wing is a dirty word among most supercar manifactures?),awkward weight distribution and price and weight almost the same as DBS's.An epitome of poser's carclap

Why did they tease us with the hardcore 600hp V12 RS and then tone it back so much! It's basically a Vantage with 90 more horse power and double the price tag. That said, I wish I could afford one. frown

surely the real reason is simply cost. Why develop a more powerful V12 when you can just drop the DBS engine straight in?

that said the DBS is already looking short of power for it's price and could do with something nearer 600 bhp asap.

I absolutely love the way the current astons look and I'd much prefer to own an Aston to any Porsche or ferrari, I also love the way they still offer proper manual gearboxes and V12s even though most of their owners prefer autos. I'd love to support a great british marque but for the money I still think both these V12 astons should have something more like the lambo lp640 engine under the bonnet.

Nice car that I would willing hack a limb off to own, but is it the right time to for AM to introduce another model to its range.Seems to me they are starting to have a lot of cars that are competing against each other. If you buy this car chances are you would have been happy to buy one of the existing models.

No, not really - this is the first AM in a long time that has enough enough bonkers appeal for me to want one. OK, it's not that I can afford one anyway...

The DBS is based on the DB9 not the Vantage. There's a big difference in size.
I'm aware of the differences. But these are almost the same?!?! Weight aside... They look the same, so why bother?

Don't get me wrong, I like it - but it almost seems pointless. It's not like they don't have a V12 version of a car that looks almost the same.

Presumably you think the Cayman is pointless too, as long as Porsche have the 911? After all it's the same engine type, same weight, looks almost identical,...

and heavy, far too heavy. I parked next to one a few weeks ago and it was bigger (as well as heavier) than my M5.

It doesn't look anywhere near as good as a DB9, has less power and is heavier. The only advantage it has is room for people over the age of six in the rear.

Yes but what happens in six month time when AM decide they need a V12 twin turbo vantage. From my experience owning TVRs you purchase what you consider to be the Bees Knees only to have it surpassed before you have run it in.Its going to make V8 vantage owners feel distinctly second best. They have done the same with the DBS and the DB9.

Yes it looks sweet. But compare it to an M6 and it is way too expensive and wont be any faster.
Not a fair comparison the M6 is horrific to look at and there are plenty of used models under £40K now.
I have to agree, although the M6 is more of a DB9 wannabe competitor (faster, but just look at the two of them - how could you not take the Aston?).

Good Point. This is the second Engine update to the Vantage model. Looks awesome though..really like it, be interesting to see what the list is? and how it affects the 4.7 Ltr (generation 2) AM V8's??

If anyone says that its derivative, not good looking, not bothered etc etc.....

YOU'RE WRONG! END OF!!!

Get your eyes tested! Now!
Oh come on, there is more than a passing resemblance between the XK8, DB7, DB9, DBS and this one. Design innocation is fairly stale at Porsche, Ferrari, Aston and Lambo. The only attempt at something new is the Ferrari California, which unfortunately doesn't work.

Only the smaller supercar makers seem to take risks these days.
No, I agree on the resembelence, but derivative? Hmmmm.....depends on your point of view. I see Golfs Focus's, Astra's and the like and yeah, although they have pulled their finger out to make them look interesting recently, the point is, I see them, all the while, every day. But Astons? Nope, see one probably once every couple of months. So, derivative? Maybe, but when a car looks THAT good, does it really, really matter? I enjoy looking at it, it gives me pleasure and to criticise it because it looks like DBS, DB7, XK8 etc etc.....cars you don't see on a regular basis is like saying I saw Halle Berry walking down the street and thought "Meh, she looks like every other woman on the street".....

Yet I could go out and point out 100 Page Three clones easily in one stroll.......

Eh? There's similar and bordeline identical! Also, mid engined vs rear engined. Don't really think you've got much of an argument there!

Come to Edinburgh! I see at least one DB9\Vantage a day! Last couple of weeks i've seen a Vanquish nearly every day as well! I'd actually say i've seen more DB9's in Edinburgh than new XK's!
