Am i barking up the wrong tree ? Or am i just barking!
My neighbour used to have the 3.0i 24v estate "Omega" (Opel's equivalent for the Carlton), with 2.3d badges (LOL), so yes, they did make a GSi estate (at least over here) wink

This is going to invite comparisons with certain German high performance offerings but is a nice car in its own right

With all it's pro's & con's it's thé car for the real motorist; V8 power with a "family" body. Call it an Estate or Station Wagon. I'll never mind. If they will bring it out in LHD ( Maybe a Pontiac GXP Tourer ?), I'll be the first one to order. Will be standing next to my Pontiac GTO 2006, one of the few in Europe! I love Holden cars, specialy HSV's.

Greetings from the netherlands,

Peter.

Indeed. Though apparently they don't really have much boot space at all in comparison to older models, more in the vein of the Alfa 'stylewagons' compromising practicality for looks.

Having recently took delivery of one of these and then prepped it for its ultimate owner (a certain CEO of its parent company) I can attest that this car is like finding a nuclear weapon in the bargain bin at Waitrose. Superb effort from the Clayton boys and other than that I can't really say anymore or I'll get fired! smile

From memory, there was a Carlton 3.0 CDX estate. Can't remenber if it was 12 or 24v though. Remember seeing a red GSi kitted Carlton estate around Luton in the late 80's,pesumsbly a one-off.

Wahay! nice to see a review on Pistonheads done in my back yard! is that first picture that gravel rd down the Dandenongs that starts in about Olinda and heads down to Montrose? not sure I'd be tailsliding a 2 tonne wagon given the drops on the side. The tarmac run over the top from Montrose down into Belgrave is a nice road too, managed to make even my Volvo seem fun. I'll agree the wagon looks better than the sedan, but they are a bit too heavy for my tastes. Still, nice write up.

Ali.

I'll pass.

Seeing them everyday, and seeing the people who aspire to own them here, makes you a bit wary of the brand connotations.

Please, take as many away from here as possible. As soon as a Chav (bogan) makes good they buy one of these.

Great read. Whilst in NZ, very briefly, a couple of years ago I saw a pick up with the 6.0l LS2 engine and bought a Maloo in black. It was a bit of a mare getting it registered but the exchange rate was 3:1 so it worked out ok. The problem was, as you mention, you need more dry area in this country. The truck met an untimely early death, well near death & someone bought the salvage. I did really like it & this estate though mmmnnn.............
