R8 £35k or under in 1 years time.

V8 vantage kicks its ass...
In what way? Have you owned both?

On thing is for sure, the V8 Vantage kicks the R8's ass on depreciation...
I have owned both, the R8 is better in terms of advanced technology and track day driving but the Vantage for pure presence and sound is superb,as for depreciation the Vantage has been around longer than the R8 but in the long term like for like age cars i don't think there will be much in it.?drivingyes
Didn't you say earler that you sold your R8 for £10,000 over list..?
Yes,that was one of the first UK cars back in June 07 a Silver one,Then I had a White one both manual cars but driven man and Rtronic on track days,I have had the Vantage all the time so run the two on a daily basis.

Just been offered a 57 plate R8 with less than 10k miles for £57k with £21k for Cayman S. Seriously thinking of paying the deposit tomorrow to secure it.

I'm sure some will say i'm mad in the current climate, but I want a step up from the Cayman that isn't a 911 (unless it's a Turbo or GT3 which are out of budget at the moment), and my attitude to depreciation is it's an inevitably and I own cars to drive and enjoy them.

I'm doing 20k miles per year so the R8 seems to tick all the necessary boxes in terms of reliability and running costs.

Whilst I agree with your first two points, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that like age R8's are approx 10k ahead of a AMV8.

Both your examples are R8's? But I am talking long term,When they are more R8's around so in a couple of years time then compare a three/four year old comparible R8 and AMV8 I think then they will be of similiar price.?scratchchin

This makes an interesting read 9 years on. I’m in the market for an R8 and it seems that the prices haven’t dropped like some people predicted and it seems a pretty safe place for money and a depreciation free motoring experience.

Now to find the right one.
