Lots for sale just now, plus it's not really a 'keeper' is it?

I found the R8 technically brilliant but a bit boring, plus a lot of cars were bought as 'investments' and have left quite a few people with burnt fingers.
I am VERY pleased to say I had one of the first UK R8's Back June 07 and Sold for £10k..OVER LIST..!!And had some FREE track days..!!thumbupThey are a great car but as with anything at the moment NO money about and OVER supply..!!headacheI could have had a new one for Jan with over £10k OFF LIST..!!nono

Lambo's with high mileages have always had a hard time on the second hand market.
Most high-mileage cars like that are prepared for sale by a man with a laptop.
Excuse my ignorance but how common is that in the supercar market as I would think it would be easy to check back with the dealers who do the servicing?

Has anyone heard of one being used as a daily driver?
I know of an 07 car with over 35k on it, it's had a few R-Tronic issues (complete new gearbox fitted under warranty) but other than that its not missed a beat.
Sounds like Trigger's broom. biggrin

Audi R8 passes you on the M4. Virtually no one notices, except somone says it looks a bit like a TT (especially with those silly lights)

You pass a Lambo Gallardo on the M4 (its on a recovery trailer). Heart beats are raised. You dont see many of them.....

Tony, they are actually two different cars aimed at a different market sector ...
Lol. Only on new list price. When the prices are equivealent, the sectors will overlap significantly.

Yes its true that some people the desire an R8 wont ever want a Lambo, the majority of people make these desicions based on price. When offerred the choice of a brand new R8 (esp the new V10) or an 12 month old Gallardo with 4000 miles on the clock and balance of warranty, many will go with the Gallardo instead. this will hit resale figures.

Audi or Lamborghini sir?
Sorry mate, as one of those customers I have to say you are wrong. A car purchase at this level tends to be done with the heart as no one buys a £100k car because it was a practical thing to do. The R8 will be cheaper to run, a better long term bet and just as fast. As time moves on I think you will find that the R8 will be regarded as a very solid second hand buy and I also predict you will find that they will be seen with much higher mileages in the coming years.
Lambo's with high mileages have always had a hard time on the second hand market.
I didnt mention anything about a high milage Lambo. You can however buy ones with reletivly small milage for the same list price of a new R8.

I suggest you are right though when talking about new cars. However, in terms of new verses used, I think the R8 will suffer against the dropping price of the Gallardo. It wont be catastrophic, but there will be plenty of people that 'dream' of owning a Lambo, and virtually no one dreams about owning an R8. Its just not special enough.

Unfair comparison. Late 07 R8s are avaialble for sub-£60k. So now lets ask this question:-

04 Gallardo vs 07 R8, and you're doing more than 15k miles per year. Which would you choose?

A lot of folk would go for the Audi: supercarish, but not frightening, while the thought of Lambo servicing/repair is very scary.

Some people prefer a little discretion (not that you could really describe an R8 as discrete).

But seriously if you er doing 15k and you are in this situation do you not have a 911 turbo / Range rover etc etc as well anyway ?

Yes, you may have mentioned in many of the posts you've written. Is it remapped?

No, this is exactly the position I am currently in. Want one car that can do the commute plus work on the track and at the 'ring a few times a year, and not cost me the Earth to run.

and how much are 355's / 360's thesedays? (which were 100k+ new)
25k will get you 355 IIRC
A st one yes, I wuoldnt buy a 25k 355. 25k is a good 348, 355s demand a good price still, because they are just so amazing
A good 348? Impossible. smile
Why not, I have done a fair bit of research on the 348 and the later ones are the better ones, but most 348 owners dont have a problem with them, where and when did you own one to give that info that they are all crap?

Choosing a R8 over a Gallardo due to running costs is hardly a good basis for propping up the resale value.

R8. I'd actually get to where I was going in it on time, rather than arrive late in the C-Class/3 Series courtesy car supplied by my friends at Lambo Assist.

At least with the R8 you get an R8/RS4/S6 as a replacement. smile
