How much can you spend on a not-that-nice car?
Discussion
OK, this is a double cheat really, it's a car off a French site, and it's not a proper 'configure your car' shot either but I thought it was well worth a mention.
May I introduce, the Aixam Crossline.
Obviously someone in France saw a Rover Streetwise when on a day trip to the UK to stock up on baked beans and tea bags and thought 'oooh lalalalalala, c'est magnifique' and decided to make one themselves, based around possibly the most wretched car in the semi-civilised world. The version I've chosen is the 'sans permis' Diesel Super Luxe, which not only looks like one of Christopher Biggins' walking shoes, but has similar levels of performance. The 400cc paralell twin diesel, recently liberated from a mini-digger (seriously!) will power it along at the dizzy heights of 45kph, while managing upto 100mpg, giving it a theoretical range of 300km, or 6 hours and 40 minutes of driving flat out!
All this, for just €13,900 (£13,000), where do I sign up!

I thought I'd stay in the "pointless" genre with a should-have-bought-a-real-Porsche Boxster. That's right, a regular boxster (not an S) for nearly 60k!
Oh and to be sure it's completely pointless, I didn't add a single performance option
With added bonus of a delightful colour scheme and tasteful leather/aluminium/wood/carbon fibre mixed interior! Nice!

Great effort there, a potential winner.Oh and to be sure it's completely pointless, I didn't add a single performance option

Excellent thread! I am afraid I have nothing much to add, I think the G-Wiz, 116d, 318i, 520d and Ford Galaxy are the best!

I got as far as the Ford list price for a Focus 1.6TDCI Studio Estate.
I laughed so hard, I just gave up.
I completly agree with you there, Fords list prices are crazy right now. Its got to the point where a matching spec Volvo V50 now costs less than a Focus Estate. Madness!I laughed so hard, I just gave up.

Whoever decided they'd make great fleet cars deserves to be shot.
I suppose Ford were giving them away to Lex etc., but the P11D value has always been way above what they're actually 'worth' - so fleet managers gain at the end user's expense.
