I was going through Hampstead the other day and hit a pothole roughly the size of a decent comet crater which cheerfully removed most of the zorst from my jag. The pipe is sheered pretty much at the point where it hits the manifold so in effect I have no zorst at all. I need to get the car up to a dealer about 6 miles away. It sounds terrible of course and has no power but is it safe to drive it about 6 or 7 miles or would it be better just to recover the car?

Cheers

It'll be fine for a a short distance, although I would suggest doing it with the windows open. And maybe with a balaclava on, as everyone within oh, say, 4 miles will be able to hear you.

Yeah it should be fine. You may become high though hehe Actually, funny you should mention about the 'zorst falling off, a friend of mines snapped and dug into the road and flipped the car.

The exhaust fell off my old Audi a few weeks ago. Apart from the bleeding ears no problem.

Mate had his exhaust fall off at the manifold after it crack.... stupid twunt didnt have g-clamps on it and had had the exhaust tied directly on to the mounts and so when the engine moved the exhaust did not and then it was a matter of time.... had fun driving under the railway line in Leeds.

Scared the st out of a few people when he gunned it for a laugh

Should not cause any problems. I had an exhaust fall off a car before, I stopped picked it up (making sure it was not too hot to touch) chucked it in the boot and drove home.

Kind of assumed that was the case but wanted to make sure. In which case may I suggest that anyone in North London tomorrow may wish to buy ear defenders and if you spot a jag making enough noise to cause a decent sized earthquake, please feel free to wave and say hi!

Yeah like the others have said, you should be fine, Though you might get a tug of the plod but If you explain your going to a exhaust centre to get it fix they won't be able to do anything about it.

God, a Renault Laguna is bad enough with no exhaust system, must sound insane on a Jag.

If the route is congested..the fumes may seep into the cabin with no airflow...can make the eyes sting...hehe

Bearing in mind where I have had screamer pipes exiting, it won't be a problem hehe

Is there some way you can claim the damage back from Camden council? Must have been a bloody huge pothole to do that sort of damage, I thought the roads were bad here in Ealing...

Working on it. So far the council was supposed to send me a claim form, but nothing yet. Will be my thrid claim against councils in four years. Would just be cheaper for them to look after the sodding roads I would think.

For ultimate noise with no exhaust, try a 2.25 petrol Land-Rover. Noisy, plus you're sitting in an aluminium box....
