No, in towns. About €1.35-38 on the motorways IIRC.

This site is useful for supermarket prices

http://www.carrefour-calais.com/modulosite2/new-gb...

There, it has

unleaded E1.41 / super unleaded E1.44 / diesel E1.20

or in English £1.27 / £1.30 / £1.08

Prices correct 27 Dec 10.

So diesel is a lot cheaper and petrol a little bit
more expensive.

Thanks dcb, that's another good one - however the French one I posted above shows all the fuel stations and their prices throughout the country. So I can scan the map and find the fuel stops nearest the autoroute for the whole journey, so at 10c a litre difference that should save at least €30 over the whole journey - will go well against the tolls smile

I started reading this thread without realising that it was a bit out of date, and couldn't work out why people thought diesel at 0.93euros wasn't that much cheaper hehe

As before the hypermarkets are showing EUR 0.10 - 0.12 below autoroute stations.
Back now - that site was very useful - using it we were able to plan a route which took in some hypermarkets very close(i.e. no further than a service station would be) to the Autoroutes.

Cheapest was €1.237 against a guessed average of €1.38 or in some cases over €1.40 at the Autoroute services. So bearing in mind we arrived at Calais empty and we brimmed it before leaving that saved us about €30 smilewhich if they've got a system which ties in with the DVLA will go some way to the speeding fine..... bd mobile cameras!!
