I don't think the 500 is a reference to the HP but a namesake from the GT500 of the 60's.

I don't know, but I've seen a few with taxi plates traveling at Warp 9.

Rover 80 = 77bhp
Rover 90 = 93bhp

Later P4 models didn't really corrolate the BHP with the name - such as the 100,105 and 110.
