Hamilton is only averagely talented (in the context of F1 drivers). He got lucky in being put into the class of the field car for the last 2 seasons. I have no idea what the justification for doing so was. It really annoyed a lot of people that everyone was blowing smoke up Lewis Hamiltons backside so much. I've known jenson since he was a kid. Watching him driving a kart and later on, junior formulae cars was an absolute eye opener. He's just been waiting to get his hands on a good car to show what he's always been capable of. Now he has that car he's going to get the job done.
He beat his two time world champion team mate in his first season, and won the title in his second, hardly average talent you turnip rolleyes

Although I think most F1 fans would agree Button is very good too.
Yes he beat Alonso in a fair fight with no special treatment and he didn't get all the primo parts on his car. You spud
Firstly, is Alonso talented? You'd have to be a complete pillock to say no. He's VERY highly regarded by many.

Secondly, do you honestly, honestly think Hamilton was given a better car in his first season?... when McLaren had just signed a two time world champion? Dream on.

I wouldn't dispute that after Hungary the team may have started to favour Hamilton, but as of that race they were on equal wins, and Hamilton had outqualified Alonso. In his first F1 season. Against a two time world champion.

Now, tell me he's averagely talented again. Please.
He's averagely talented.

I totally agree. In fact he's so average that in his debut year he beat the reigning double World Champion in the same car. I mean, what a loser.

indeed, in his first season, he tied on points with Alonso, a two time world champion who started his F1 career in 2001.

Remember, in only his third Formula 1 race, he out qualified and beat Alonso. Alonso had started 90 more races than Hamilton at this point.

I'm not saying he's better than Alonso, because I rate Alonso highly, but to suggest Hamilton is an average driver is absurd, that's my argument.

Hamilton is very fast but still quite one dimensional, this is changing gradually though, as he managed his soft tyres with a heavy fuel load in Turkey, where I think in previous years he would have destroyed them.

does the resonably priced car count as a comparison...

didnt Lewis hand Jenson his butt on a plate around the TG track? and in worse conditions?

Same car, same track.

Am I the only person who thinks that the artist was looking at a picture of the wrong World Champion when he was painting that chin....?
