Ok, to get a 400bhp B-series would cost lots and lots!

Just do what i did, K20 2.0L civic type-r lump in the back, with ITBs..
250bhp and 500kg. 0-60 around 3.5s, who needs 4 wheel drive? Don't seem very fun to me, no rear steer!?

soon to be faster.

When it comes to fast Mini's this is the fella, V8 madness. 1- 116 mph in about 6.5 seconds I think.

Mind blowingly fast, I had tunnel vision when I went out in this! More to come this year as Nathan is building a new V8 with a couple of turbos just for a bit more power!

Just wish he would bring out a kit too.

Love it!

The B16 vtec engine is one of my favourite engines, absolutely cracking wee lump yes
Which one is the B16? Civic type-r?
The B16 is the 1600 lump found in civic VTi's. It produces around 160bhp.
The early B16s in the EF Civic 1.6iVT were about 150bhp, then they got tweaked a bit for the EG and EK Civic VTis, these have about 160.

Then there is the Daddy of B16s in the EK9 Civic Type R which has about 185bhp.
I know the question was directed at me, but basically what they said!

There is a lot of great stuff like this around. Love it all. Was up at Lynx a while back and Jon had a Mini with a Yamaha R1 engine in the front. Dropped in on the original subframe. Only a prototype but looked quite neat.

Looked on that link, looks like a really good piece of kit, the diff will probs cost a few quid but still looks like cost effective way of building a really quick mini. And you dont have to cut the poor thing to shreds to get it to fit. Iv saved the link and I will now be looking for a crashed R1, good call.

I like it, but..

Whats the point in getting an engine from one car and linking it up to a gearbox from another car, hardly seems the easiest option. Then i hardly expect that a CRV drivetrain from a heavy offroader would be best suited to a lightweight track car.

Surely an Impreza would be a better place to start? Plus the option of even crazier power!

I think a 4wd mini with 400bhp weighing in at about 850-1000kg with the length of the wheel base would be crazy enough.... In fact i would say that you would need to be a special driver to actually use it effectivly.... Just hope the drive train is tough..

That's exactly what i was thinking. 4x4 drivetrain well up to the job specially with a 6spd box and STi version 8 engine will give you 500bhp with some external mods and a remap. Mini body and chassis weighs bugger all so the engine won't be working very hard and the compact flat 4 would lend itself well to sitting in the mini engine bay, it's the right shape anyway. You'd be sitting further back but then that should help with weight distribution. I'd better start stripping my scoob. biggrin

the engine fits the box with no mods, plus it is far lighter than an imperza box given that its just a fwd box with a power take off thats comes off the front diff. also an imperza set up would never fit. the gearbox on a imperza sits mainly behind the bulkhead and the engine sits infront of the front axle.

plus the honda is a totaly superior engine by far.
