More to the point...

He has (had!) a high-flying position involved with Ferrari. Would you move to Lotus?
So, did he leave or was he sacked?
The guy is only 35 years old......! He still has at least 30 years of high flying to do (or 36 years if he carries on for as long as Mr Kimberley did), but even at his aga another opportunity of this kind might not come a long again.

I want to despise the man for achieving so much so soon, but that’s only because I want his job, be it the Lotus job, his old job at Ferrari, or even the one he had at Red Bull. Therefore all I can say is good luck to him.

Lovin the sound of this! Won't quite be team Lotus as most of up remember it but it'll do for starters. The only worry is that its taken years for Lotus to drag themselves out of the financial mire they were in and running an F1 team is a great way to burn money!
you mean great way to burn the sponsors money ?
Heres hopeing! I'm happy for lotus to burn a few Malaysian....err...dollers....roupees.....francs? Whatever burn them all so long as the road cars are financially stable.
Malaysian Ringgits, in case anyone's interested..

Dany Bahar is generally credited as being the man who got Red Bull into F1. He's Turkish by birth, I believe, although a Swiss passport holder. Presumably a tax thing. He was headhunted away from RB by Ferrari in 2007 and his arrival in Maranello coincided with some notable departures from Ferrari's brand and licensing department including the director of that division, Guilio Zambaletti. He is allegedly quite a decisive character. Bahar's aim was apparently to remove the thin red line between Ferrari's F1 operations and their GT cars and to trade much more heavily on the F1 heritage when selling the road cars. As we all saw with the launch campaign surrounding the 430 Scud and now with the new 458. Regardless of whether he has left by his own choice or he has been shown the door by Ferrari, this is an embarrassing departure for Maranello - Bahar was being tipped by many insiders as a bright light and future MD of the company.

Lotus name deserves to be back on an F1 grid. I'd like to see it but of course unlikely to be with a Brit engine.

Does Lotus have the money for F1?, It makes a profit but nothing like the amount needed for F1...

How do you become a milionaire in F1? - start out a billionaire!

Does Scully know what Fox Mulder is up to?

In all seriousness I would love to see a Lotus in F1, it would certainly make more sense, have a closer integration/x-over to Lotus's core products and markets etc. than F1 does for Toyota.

Given that without KERS a Force India would have won last weekend.
Not necessarily....without KERS this year's Ferrari might well have been quicker, as it wouldn't have had to cart all the extra weight around. The idea that the Force India was disadvantaged by not having KERS, as a lot of coverage seemed to suggest, ignores the fact that Ferrari has also been disadvantaged by the extra weight and complexity of running the system.

The KERS teams do not have an unfair advantage, in fact it appears to have been a disadvantage for most of the season. It seems that they are now reaching the point where KERS may be turning into an advantage, but it is still a fair one as all teams could have developed a system if they had decided to do so.
CG
Not stictly true. There is no extra weight. A Ferrari with KERS will weigh the same as a Force India without. The only difference is that the Force India will be able to position the ballast needed to make the car weigh the minimum where they want, where the Fezza will not, since the KERS mechanism takes the place of the ballast.

Thats why only one BMW ran it earlier in the season. Heidfeld is smaller, so even with the KERS system, he was able to put some ballast where it was needed for ultimate handling.

Sounds like a fascinating guy... would love to see a TV interview with him.
