Oddly enough if it goes ahead Porsche may well slap their badge on it, to sit beneath the boxter & tt, with the cheaper ones being the vw's. Can't see what's wrong with that.

Only difference, the Skoda / Seat will feel twice the age as the Audi and twice the rattles and NHV.

I should know, we have done exactly that with my wife's Leon 2.0 TDI and my A3 TDI.
Why buy the cheapo one when the nicer one costs the same to run and own ?
