Would rather have a used
If there's one thing that makes no sense, it's people comparing used cars with new ones on price...Yeah, your focus RS is nice but for the cost of your new one I could have bought 25 Escort RS Turbos so why would I bother, that's 2500bhp mate!
For the cost of the second hand Cayman mentioned when it was new, you could buy a used 911 Turbo so why would anyone buy a cayman?
It just is a silly comparison really.

If the world had a PH mentality, there would be no need for new products because used ones are cheaper

I'd like to see the Mugen FN2 v the FD2 on track.
On Fifth Gear, the FD2 ripped the FN2 a new one (was it 2.something secs quicker?).....and I know that pitting a standard car against a highly tuned one is a bit daft but my gut feeling is the FD2 would be just as quick and therefore better value.
ETA The FD2 was 3 seconds quicker than the FN2.

Exactly. You can always get more performance for your money with an older car than a newer one. It's called depreciation for starters.
On the other hand, there's plenty of people who wouldn't buy a second hand car because it wouldn't have the very latest plate to impress the neighbours with. Personally I doubt I'll ever buy a brand new car (even if hypothetically I could afford it) - but equally I wouldn't evangalise to all and sundry that "Why would anybody buy a £6000 Fiat Panda, my £850 Rover Coupe was much faster and better equipped" blah blah blah drool.
And the reason I picked the Fiat was because comparing anything else to a Rover would have resulted in the "I'll pay the extra to not break down all the time" quips

I could buy a new RS and pocket the cash, is that better?
It is, because I agree as well.Comparing used cars and new cars is silly because it is not like-with-like!
I'm not comparing anything on the cars themselves I'm saying what I would do with MY own money. So tell me what exactly has that got to do with you?

Good for you, now tell me where I said that any of the cars selected are better than the Mugen? You made that assumption yourself and now owe me an apology for trying to be smart.

I think you guys are missing the point...Part of what Honda have told me relates to the buyer working directly with mugan to build the car & that includes factory visits. After you have personlised the car the shell is sent to japan then returned to be finished.
The idea being fir around 40 big ones you get to experience the same detail that a race team does when getting their cars built, even just to register my interest I had to complete a questionaire in my favourite cars & which track days I planned to attend ( my car would ideally be built with the ring in mind)
you dont get any of this if you buy 2nd hand. What you do get is a car that will have been ragged round the ring a couple of hundred times & after the tyres & pads have been changed & the armourfend taken off a supposedly pristine car owned by a retired doctor who only used it on sunny weekends lol
