I am often amazed at the cars that are kept in storage and hardly ever see the light of day around the world, like those CLK GTRs that came up for auction a few months ago and the likes of this M5. I am sure there ares so many more that we will never find out about which is sort of sad in a way.

I've lusted after this M5 cab since i first saw the photos of it about 10 years ago. Absolutely beautiful. And an utter disgrace that it didn't make production.

Hmmmm.... interesting to see an E34 M5 convertible!

I happen to know the man that owns the only RHD E39 M5 estate in existance... he built it himself to OEM spec, awesome car!

...but you know it's still just the replica, not THE REAL M5, no matter how well he has built it?

My understanding is that BMW M-Sport built a one-off E39 M5 Tourer for the then M-Sport boss as a company car (so fully functional and not only a stand piece). The colour was silver so it could well be t he one in the background...?

Not exactly a "new" story,it's been on several other car websites over time. Still interesting none the less. Not sure the ragtop suits the M5,yet i'd still sell Granny for one......

I just don't understand the reason for not putting this into production Merc had the W124 cabrio which sold well so it just seems odd.
