Took the dog for a walk yesterday and passed the local Co-Op shop. Someone had abandoned their Vectra at the T-junction. Not on the corner or anything, but actually in the middle of the road blocking the road! Impressive parking if you ask me. People were just standing and staring as they simply couldnt believe it. Obviously just nipped in for something quick, but I have to say that's probably the most arrogant thing I have seen for some time....

Bit of a grey area
I know some people will fling open their doors into other cars in carparks but its still a major pain in the arse in a busy car park when you see people parking like this.
I tend to just park at the quiet end away from the other cars.

A friend with an M3 convertible does this in a busy station car park where his business is.
We just waited till the car park emptied then parked tight either side of him, he had to climb in with the roof down as he was too proud to admit he was in the wrong!

Well, anyone who needs parking sensors on a 3 series probably isn't the best driver in the world to start with! smile

One of the great things about having a st car is that you can park as close as you want to someone who can't stay in their own bay and then laugh as they struggle to get back in
Man do they bh and moan about it though!

Me parked spot on in the middle of my bay at service station (Muffin break).

Car next to me parked a few inches into my bay.

Wing mirrors 1 cm apart (Well I dont want a ding)

Driver who cant park returns to their vehicle as I'm part way through my muffin.

Him: "How the F**k am I supposed to get in there"
Me: "Park it in a space?"
Him: Lots of swearing and abuse directed at me.
Me: He looks pretty angry I'd best move the car back so he can get in. Hope the point was made though.
That's why you need to stand at a distance when they return hehe Like the muppet with the sheddy Cavalier yesterday who parked with 2 wheels in the next space. I parked dead central then got to watch as he had to get in the passenger side

Yes, I've done this a couple of time in my 964RS in our Waitrose carpark - but always a long way from the shop entrance and always when the car park is less than full.

The real issue is most (if not all) car parks have signs saying 'Park here at your own risk. The owners of this car park cannot accept liability for damage to your vehicle'. So by parking like this, I am parking in such a way that reduces the risk of damage to my car from other peoples doors. I am managing the risk.

Some might see it as selfish, but if there are plenty of other spaces in the car park it's really not affecting anyone. I would NEVER park my RS in a busy supermarket car park.

I find that these underground style carparks, or multistorys tend to bring out people who are so afraid of the columns next to the bays, that they will happily scrape down the side of your car.

One thing that annoys me is to "have to" park next to some prat thats parked badly, makeing me also park less than central, they then move off and make me look bad! Doesnt happen much though as I'd rather park elsewhere.

Spotted in my local B&Q car park. Granted it was quiet and there were no other cars near it, but if it was so quiet then why not just park like a normal person?

Had the same outside sainsburys the other day, carpark was dead decided to park in the middile of an empty row miles from the store.

Come back to find 4 cars around me!

Because people tend to park next to other vehicles. It's not so bad with Landies, as you come out from the shop and there are usually 2 or 3 other landies clustered arround yours smile And they're all usually dented anyway so you don't worry about scratches and dents!

I suppose your right, the owner might love the car, but he should treat it like a piece of st because it didn't cost 200K.

my local ASDA and Tesco now have private companies to issue tickets for bad parking and using disabled bays if you dont have a blue badge

Just be thankful he or she didn't park in a parent & child space or hoardes of 'I must have special treatment' parents would be bearing down on them with pitchforks and flaming torches. . . . . wink

I agree with that. My Parjero had quite a few battlescars and noone parked next to it. Although...

I find with the Minibus if park away from all the other cars at the far end of the car park, when I come back you find someone parked up with a rizzla papers gap next to you. Sometimes I have to go in via the sliding side door.

Beach syndrome? Only people on beach. 10 mins later and someone will setup right next to you and moan about it.

I love having a small car that I don't really care about - park it in the space as close to his driver's door as possible, and usually you'll still be in the white lines on your side.

I keep seeing such poor parking that I thought we should have a thread with soem photos to amuse and discuss.

I'll kick the ball rolling with this white van who parks in the same place on the corner of a T junction nearly every night.

Wish I had a picture as I can top that, last night driving to the local supermarket saw a silver Mk2 ver.1 Clio parked in a similar manner, but 3 foot from the kerb the whole way around. No other cars in sight.
