I'm pleased to be honest. Really can't think of any reason why a Ferrari engine would be a good idea in an american muscle car. The Viper V10 makes the car. To be honest, any inspiration other than aesthetically (largely interior), would be a bad move for Viper.

We all know the US don't build cars that corner particularly well and we have gotten used to it. Keep the V10 muscle as it is, I say.
Also the ZR1 is the quickest car around the Nurburg and that has a few corners..... have another word with yourself and stop listening to Clarkson.
Evo magazine most DISAPPOINTING CAR OF THE YEAR goes to Corvette ZR1!
but that was from that muppet marriage, Simister(or was it Vivian) I think quite liked it. As did autocar

Would anyone be willing to guess that Ferrari really has no interest in getting involved with this car?

good. the viper is a cheap simple fast brute. i very much doubt many viper drivers want ferraris image, electronics, marketing, fragility or prices...

That's because Ferrari make a packet from the terminal unreiability of their cars with their built inobsolescence. Why ruin a good thing?

Nice little video clip, I hadn't realised just how 'hand made' the Viper was, thanks. I couldn't help noticing though that although the engine block is aluminum, the guy was still only inserting one camshaft in the middle of the 'Vee' which I assume means this is still a push-rod engine, nothing wrong with that of course but it does sort of illustrate the difference in approach between Ferrari and Viper. Ferrari quad cam V12's revving out to 8000 plus RPM etc (blocks cast on site) clearly come at a price. I love the concept of the Viper same as everyone, but being a piston head I also really like what Ferrari do - I'm just surprised that most of the support for Viper on this thread is coming at the expense of Ferrari. Just my opinion of course but I'm really glad we have both still being made in our brave new world and that Fiat will let them keep their own unique identities.
